The Tangy Crab - Cajun Seafood & Bar — Restaurant in Flint Charter Township

Oh boy. Where to start. First, there was a 45 minute wait (no biggie, it was dinner hour) we asked if we could sit at the bar. We were told the bar was closed - we could clearly see 3 people at the bar 1 person behind it. We take the beeper and go sit in our car for 45 minutes because there was also no waiting area. We get sat by one of the 2 hostesses who apparently never told the waitress we were sat in her section. The waitress - bless her- was the only reason this place got 2 stars. Aside from her mask being below her nose she was great. Speaking of masks, not really enforcing those mask rules there it was about 50/50 people walking in without them or wearing them wrong. The restaurant itself looked like a culvers with the same interior decorator as Long John Silvers. Back to the waitress, she had to be the bearer of bad news, they had 2 kinds of alcohol only and no iced tea, despite having a long and robust drink menu. I wish there would have been a note on the menu or something. The longer we sat there the worse it got. The music was straight out of the club. Not what you expect to hear at an upscale seafood restaurant. The staff was directionless. It was like some friends got together and said "we like to boil seafood and sip drinks at the club. Let's open a business" despite none of them having any idea how to run a business and just gave a bunch of friends jobs who also had no experience. The lobster bisque looked unappealing and the flavor was 'meh.' The fried shrimp had not been deveined. The fries were good. I went there for my birthday intending to spend some money and have a good time, but I would have been better off going to red lobster. Sorely...

I never write reviews, but I was left super frustrated here tonight.

The food was good, don't get me wrong. Loved the food.

The service was pretty horrid though. Was greeted by a kid on his cell phone. Barely even looked up at us. Just pointed at a booth and said go ahead and sit there.

By the time the waitress made her way to us to even get drinks we had picked out what we wanted to eat and had to flag someone down to see what we needed to do to order.

It was just my wife and I, so two drinks and a short order. After 20 minutes the waitress came back with just my drink,.totally forgot my wife's. She said she would be right back with it. The next we saw her was when she brought out the food 30 minutes later. Never got her drink, and we didn't see her again through the meal.

Had to again ask another waitress for our check after waiting around for another 20 minutes or after we were done eating.

The waitress finally came back with the bill, and pointed out where to write the tip, then stood there watching me write it out. She spent more time standing there watching me fill out the bill than she did actually serving us....

Like I said, food was awesome. But the service is just trash. Better off just doing drive through... Doubt I'll be going back unfortunately.

(Oh, it wasn't busy either. Half the tables were empty. Most people working were standing around on their phones)

Edit: I'm guessing the manager commented asked for more information. Emailed them, and never heard back. Knocked off a star for garbage...

I love this place and my family knows never to ask if I want to eat there......of course I do!!! The crabmeat fries are delicious and the fried calamari is so good too! Catfish and shrimp are just as tasty! Their regular fries are really good, I haven't had the Cajun or sweet potato fries yet. I usually use the drive thru when I eat here but today me and the fam went inside to dine. Our waitress was really nice and very helpful. She kept good check on us and made sure we were comfortable. We were the only ones eating inside but there were a few drive thru orders served while we ate.

The only complait I have isnt a huge one at all. The music playing outside of the building, at the entrance is just too loud. My wife has a traumatic brain injury so she's sensitive to loud sounds and she almost didn't want to go in out of fear that inside will be just as loud. It'd be more inviting if the music was turned down just a little bit. And honestly, the volume bothered my wife but the volume isn't my complaint, my complaint is that the speakers were blown so the music sounded like trash everytime a bass note dropped lol. The food is great! The employees have been awesome! The music is good! But the speakers are BLOWN and the music playing outside is just a liiiitle too loud. I hope my...
