Sumtin' 2 Eat — Restaurant in Flint

Where do I start, first of all we had reservations at 5pm on Mothers Day for 5 women. When we got there they did not have our table ready, told us the only table they had was outside in the shade. We accepted because we were tired of waiting. Went outback and the only table was available was without shade no umbrella to block the sun so we opt to sit with a couple that allowed us to sit with them. Took 20 minutes to have our order taken. Drinks was first, we were ready to order our food waitress said I’m only doing the drinks. Waiter finally came out to take our order we order appetizers We asked if we can have our appetizers before our meal he said the appetizers come out with the food??? Ok I’m thinking where they do that at. Not one time did we get asked for refills on our water or drinks. After 2 HOURS we still had not gotten our food let me say it AGAIN 2 HOURS and still had not gotten our food. After complaining STILL had not gotten our orders. Waiter would go check just to come back and straight LIED to our face. Ok so food came out now I came with 5 women and they came out with 2 orders, The orders that we got were all wrong. They never ever came out with the rest of the food. After complaining AGAIN he apologized and said let me check. Still nothing then informed that food we ordered was sold out. The 2 orders that came out came out wrong as mentioned before. And came out without utensils. It’s like they had no care in the world that we were sitting there. Just trouble only thing was good was the music. I’VE NEVER IN MY LIFE HAD SUCH BAD service NEVER. Bottom line overall bad bad service the owner stayed outside on his phone didn’t even care about his customers and make sure everyone got there food. We complained and I ensured him that I would be leaving a review. He offered free food at another time but hell no. Did I mention we came from out of town.. and it was Mother’s Day. Just ruined our day. Bad customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Just horrible. I hope they read this so no one else has to go through what me and my family went through. And I hope they learn customer service. Just unbelievable… The food we did get was not gonna be...

I love the concept of this place, for the fact that we have no nice places to go here in Flint. However; the reviews tainted my perception of the venue. For the price of the meal, I feel like my food should have been served on a plate instead of a Styrofoam "ToGo" box. My party had been there before I, so they'd ordered, that's fine. Subsequently; there were 2 of us that entered. Hmmm, maybe moments after one another. We both ordered at the same time; needless to say, she received her meal well before. The taste of the catfish was good, but it wasn't done in the middle. My greens had sugar (not a taste for myself). I like my greens to taste like greens. Yet they were nice and tender. The red beans and rice were just ok, and maybe add a complimentary square of cornbread. The service was amazing once they were able to get to ya, not enough servers for the number of persons in the restaurant. Oan, I paid for but never received My Lemonade! The bar was nicely decorated, and the drinks were mixed perfectly. The bartender is also a nice young lady who also displayed her talents as well and did not disappoint. The atmosphere was a relaxing mix of ambiance and enjoyment friends/family with soothing music from the DJ. I sat in front of the stage where a band usually plays ( I've not had a chance to partake), I hear they're amazing as well. However; I sat right in front of the stage. What I saw was a floor that needed vacuuming. As a patron of the establishment, I should not have seen that before management . Overall, I will give this place 3 stars collectively, I love the concept, location, and the idea of "good" soul food. I felt safe and welcomed, just not totally satisfied. Would I dine again? I was intrigued by the great reviews so I decided to try… Shrimp fajita turkey leg was tender and flavorful. 5/5 Meatballs were small in size and portion compared to the charge. Taste was nothing special just simple with thin brown juice like gravy. 3/5 Fish had dark spices in the batter/flour or it was fried hard, did not mimic the photo advertised. 3/5 Mac n cheese was ok. 3/5 Dressing I did not try but was told it was decent. Did not receive cranberry sauce. Sweet potatoes…. The whole time eating them I was trying to figure out what the taste was I was tasting. Wasn’t good or bad… just a “what is that?!” type of taste. I could be wrong but I think it is highly doctored canned sweet potatoes. I LOVE sweet potatoes so this was disappointing. 1/5 Dirty rice I did not try but was told “it wasn’t dirty enough” (lol) not enough seasoning or meat. Side sizes are small almost kid sized. The container was like a oversized “to go” ramekin. I also ordered the oxtail meal. However, I failed to receive the whole meal. I would have been more satisfied being told the option was not currently available when I called to inquire why, instead of “we’re not sure why you didn’t receive it. You should contact your delivery service for refund.”🤷🏽‍♀️ Overall, I think looking at the pictures shown and reading the reviews I had my expectations set too high because in my opinion it was only “ok🫤”. Would I recommend? Try it you may have a different experience and really love the food. Would I order again? Not sure. I still would like to try the oxtails. Maybe a dine in experience...
