The best steak I have had in years. You actually get what it says on the menu. I ordered a 14 ounce New York strip and when it was delivered it was at least 18 to 24 ounces. The owner hand cuts each steak and they are grilled on a charcoal fire. When cooking that way and you are able to take a steak that is over an inch thick and have it done on the outside and not burnt to a crisp yet have the inside that nice pink and not bloody rare or raw, that is a fine cook. Also he hand crafts his own crabcakes, and my wife was very pleased. Their handmade desserts are to die for if you leave enough room, but if not, they have to go containers. For anyone interested, I am now in my mid-50's and haven't been to the Petrified Forest since grade school, take a trip to Flora, Mississippi and visit the Forest and end the day with a trip to Bill's. They are only minutes apart and yet they are are quite a few extra spots to visit in between in the shops and stores of the quaint little town of Flora. I ended up there by accident on my visit as I was supposed to be about 30 miles away in another city for another weekend activity, but most people believe that they usually end up where they are supposed to be no matter what they have planned. Most believe a higher power puts us where we should be and am definitely excited and glad that I ended up at Bill's. 5 stars, 2 thumbs 👍up, well worth the drive...
Read moreThis was our second visit here. The first was about a year ago and everything was great then other than a little bit too long of a wait on the food.
This visit my party of 3 ordered the catfish platter, Ribeye (no info on size or price on menu) cooked medium with fries, kids steak tips with rice. Had a couple drinks while waiting and waitress checked on us often. Food took 31 minutes to arrive. Catfish platter was excellent. Kids meal was also great, not too hot and small pieces. My ribeye came with loaded baked potato (I ordered fries and didn’t eat the loaded potato). Steak was very large, filled up the whole oval style plate and was over an inch thick. It was spicy with good flavor. Ordered medium since there was no info about it. Half was cooked perfect the other half was very raw and too bloody to eat. Of the whole steak I was able to eat 1/3 that was cooked. The rest was either raw or a lot of fat and gristle. Everything with tip was $90. Good price as of today’s economy. Probably won’t go back again after this visit just from the mistakes on the order and...
Read moreI'm a certified steak judge, and this was one of the best steaks I had in my life. I was in town visiting a friend for the New Year and he took me here. Upon driving up, I wasn't so sure. The building's facade is very unassuming. However when I walked in, I knew I was home.
The brown bag policy was a new experience for me. We stopped at a liquor store beforehand and grabbed a bottle of whiskey to enjoy with our steaks. For a $4.95 fee we were able to pop open the bottle and have a nice meal.
This was my first experience with comeback sauce as well, and now I'm hooked. Gonna have to find a recipe to make it myself!
The steak itself was massive and perfectly cooked to medium rare. The loaded mashed potatoes I had with it were also delicious. I was incredibly full but kept coming back for more bites. I'd go here once a...
