Have never been so rushed at a restaurant in my entire life. I have been a server for 10 years so I feel like I have a good understanding of patrons and servers. Tonight my kids and I went into Chen’s which we love the food but we got there with over an hour until they closed. They got our food out quick it was great. But within ten minutes the waitress had brought us the bill. And to go boxes. Mind you we had barely even gotten the food out on all of our plates. I asked the waitress if they were closing and they still had a half hour until they were supposed to close. Then she asked me if I needed help with boxing things up. Which normally would have be a nice gesture but in this case it was obvious they were just trying to get us out of there. I couldn’t even finish my small plate of food before I just gave up and packed up. We had three different women come to our table and grab most of our plates even some with food still on them without asking first. I had to ask them to stop. Even our napkins which we were still using. Mind you I was actively packing up all of our excess food which was 5 containers worth because we had zero time to eat our food. It’s hard enough to get all of my kids to sit down and eat for dinner this was just rude on their part. No we didn’t do anything wrong. My kids were quiet and polite the entire time. They had even shut the open sign off 25 mins before they were supposed to close. I really dislike feeling like I’m being that person but it just didn’t sit right with me. If you don’t want to be open until your posted hours then you should just change it so you can close earlier. Very disappointed to say the least. Not a welcoming atmosphere at all this time. If they would have just said something instead of hovering over us and literally taking our food still left on our plates it would have...
Read moreWe had been here about 10 years ago. We remember it being good but not just how good.
Unassuming place located in Florence, OR, we were seated as soon as we walked in. Menus given and within seconds we had ice waters and hot tea brought without request. I like that.
We ordered from the lunch menu, she lad the Lemon Chicken and I had the General Tso's Chicken.
With the order placed, our soup, Egg Flower, arrived. More hearty than most I was surprised to find it full of noodles and veggies. Very good.
Our main dishes arrived quickly considering it's made fresh. We both tried tastes of each others and our conclusions are the same.
Both dishes came with stir fried rice and crab puffs.
The Lemon chicken was very good. A large chicken breast, butterflied into two pieces, lightly bread and cooked to a perfect light crispness. The lemon sauce was delicious, a nice blend of tart and sweetness. It was fresh and hot.
The King of the castle... was General Tso's chicken. I'm a bit of a foodie, with a love of cooking, and I can't figure out how they do it. The chunks of chicken are battered and fried until heavenly perfection is reached. The outside was crisp, but just the outer part. The inner batterer was cooked, (not doughy,) and soft. At the center, a perfectly cooked piece of chicken. The sauce was a mouthwatering perfect combination of sweetness and spice. This all combined to the best dish at a Chinese restaurant I've ever had. The best.
All this at a cost of $21.50!
The staff were prompt, attentive and professional. The restaurant itself looked very clean and a all but one employee was wearing a mask. Surprising seeing the CDC removed the need...
Long story short, if you want great Chinese food in Florence,...
Read moreThey have lost our business! Mike & I stopped to do some laundry at the laundromat next to this restaurant. We weren't sure where to park our RV, but saw another RV parked in the parking lot adjacent to the laundromat. Its also situated right next to an RV Park. We didn't know we weren't allowed to park there. We didn't know that lot wasn't part of the laundromat's parking area.
We had noticed the restaurant and had intended to purchase a meal there, and eat it in the RV while our laundry was being done. However the woman employee who came out of that restaurant to tell us we had to move our RV was incredibly rude! Since we are totally unfamiliar with this area, I asked her where we could park our rig.
She said she didn't care, and that we were not allowed to park it there OR in the empty gravel lot next to their parking lot. And she didn't even give me the chance to tell her that we wanted to check out their menu and order a couple of meals from it - so we could eat in the RV while we wait for our laundry to be done.
I'm not upset by the fact that we were not allowed to park there, for I can understand and respect the rights of who owns that property and their business policies...it was her ATTITUDE and the way she treated us that I TOTALLY object about. I can not and will not tolerate rudeness of ANY kind!! And THAT is why I'm giving this restaurant a negative review!!
When you work in the food and retail industry CUSTOMER SERVICE and DIPLOMACY is a MUST!! This woman obviously has no concept of this fact OR in simple common courtesy & manners!! And it is BECASUE of her that they have not only lost our business, but I will NOT be recommending them to...
