..I have been shopping with Freeman's for years but last week and the week before last I can honestly say that I am highly disappointed. Last Saturday morning I ordered a Spiderman birthday cake for an 8 year old birthday party. The cake was absolutely dry. There was more cake left in the box from it falling apart and being crumbly than the kids had cake on their spiderman dessert plates. I was iffy on ordering because the weekend before last I went to Freeman's and ordered some cake squares with the balloons on them. When. I got home and opened my box I was highly disappointed. The cake squares were hard on the side the color on what was to be the string of the balloon was not smeared and melting into the white icing and the balloons on top were breaking apart and the original spot they were on was visible as if the icing was melting into the white icing. The slice of caramel cake I bought was worse. Needless to say everything ended in the trash. No one wants cake that's crumbly or hard on the side with the design looking like it's old.
I will be looking for another bakery in Florence. This is not the Freeman's I grew up eating and I'm glad I didn't get my 50th birthday cake made by you. Maybe yall need to get the person who makes the cakes for Victor's to come and bake for you. Addition to my post..
So you got offended because I made an honest review about your dry cake. I made the post when I had the time. You close at 5 on Saturday and the party was at 6. I just simply said that my most recent visits your cakes was dry. How bout when I went in to pick up my cake there was a customer yall messed up her whole order and the workers couldn't decide if they would refund her or fix the mistake. Either your establishment is preserving leftovers or you changed the products you use. My family has gotten their cakes from this bakery for years and NEVER in the 25+ years we have done business with this establishment has it been like this. If you take offense to what I said then that's says alot about whomever posted the response. Yeah. I post bad food reviews cause how else will you know to improve. And I read reviews based on where i am going. I travel with my job and dont have time to be back and forth to a place i could just stay away from those that have complaints. Do better with the preservation or making of your products. Your response to this post was personal and not professional. The cake was dry and falling apart is an epic fail to present before kids. And the cake squares on the front of the showcase didn't look like what I took home. I bought a birthday cake in February and cake squares that was nothing like the product I got the past two weeks. Admit you may have madea mistake and make sure no one else get what i got. You made the error and tried to degrade me because I called you out on it.
How bout I ask everyone at the party to come on here and make a review since you questioning why I didn't make it...
Read moreI was traveling from Savannah Ga, to my Mom’s house in North Carolina for her milestone 70th Birthday festivities and I really didn’t want to do a big birthday cake because she isn’t a big sweet eater, but I did want to give her a little treat. As I was approaching Florence, SC. I pulled over to google some bakeries in the area and Freeman’s Bakery was first on the list and I and so glad that they were. I went to their Facebook page and immediately I knew it was meant to be when I saw the post for all the Blueberry treats they had ready. My Mom’s favorite is any and all things Blueberry so I knew I had to go for the Blueberry pound cake. Upon arriving in the bakery not only did I notice the amazing smell but the space was super nice. There were so many delicious treats to choose from, I was in awe!! The super nice lady gave me such a warm welcome and helped immediately. I told her what I needed and she offered to right Happy Birthday on my Blueberry pound cake. I really appreciated her thinking for me because I was so overwhelmed with all the treats around me. My in store experience was refreshingly welcoming and helpful. Once I got the cake to my Mom’s we couldn’t wait to sample it. This cake did NOT disappoint. It is so moist and absolutely delicious. I could not recommend Freeman’s Bakery enough. I’m so glad I stopped. I can’t wait to visit them again on my frequent trips from Savannah to North Carolina!! Thank you all so much for the exceptional service and the...
Read moreI wanted a cake with a specific design for a memorial service. I went to the shop and there was a line but I was acknowledged appropriately. When my turn came, I told Carolyn what I wanted and discussed the sizes and prices. She went through the list of considerations, such as practical changes to the design and if I wanted the design piped by hand or the less expensive print. Given the occasion, I decided piping would be best. When I picked the cake up, I was absolutely amazed at how great it looked. It was beautiful. The attention to detail and effort put in to stay true to the design were evident. People who saw it immediately said, "Wow, that's a nice looking cake." Thank you so much, it means a lot to be able to present a nice gift to a friend going through...
