I had always heard good things about this BBQ place and was happy for the chance to try it, but this was my first and last visit. I advise you to look at the buffet before you pay for it because the food that was sitting out there was not worth the price we paid. No signs on any dish so we had to choose in-between 3 gravy's, one looked like thick brown gravy with lumps, one was the liver hash which I could tell from all the white speckles in it, and the third looked like ketchup. The macaroni and cheese had all the middle dug out of it and just the crispy dry edges remained, I saw the attendant put out fresh fish and that was okay. The hush puppies and biscuits were hard and cold, the pulled pork was nice and tender but was doused in vinegar, which had no BBQ flavoring or spices. I was surprised to see the self-service drinks since the cashier had mentioned tipping a waitress, I looked for said waitress and did not see one. Eventually I saw her and she was the only waitress for the entire dining room, I felt bad she was struggling to keep up with other tables. When she did stop by she was very kind and instead of refilling our drinks in the glasses she came back with foam togo cups, which was nice but in the same hand made it feel like they were hoping for us to leave soon. Second time at the buffet I discovered fried shrimp and oysters, this is what I think made us sick. The shrimp tasted old and cold but the oysters were a bit better even though the last one I had tasted was a little extra 'fishy'. The peach cobbler was too sweet to eat and the banana pudding was practically empty so passed on that. We left and had to take the interstate home, well about halfway there I had to make an emergency stop on I20 to throw up 🤮all the rice, liver hash and fried oysters greeted me again. Horrible experience...
Read moreNow dont get me wrong, this had been my FAVORITE restaurant in Florence since I knew what that meant lol. But I was greatly dissapointed this Thanksgiving. I called Rogers BBQ at around 8am Thanksgiving morning to request an order of Sweet Potato Casserole. They said they weren't taking orders over the phone, but that I could show up at opening at 11am and try again then. So, I did show up. And there were two lines of confused people just standing around. Apparently, some of them WERE able to call in an order. However, when I FINALLY got to the front, I was told that I would have to wait an hour for two cold casseroles (sweet potato & squash) that I would need to cook at home. Everyone else was getting hot food and I was getting cold food. And the worst part was that I HAD TO PAY THE SAME PRICE. Also, the girl that took my order "forgot" to give it to the kitchen. So, my cold casseroles weren't even ready when I got back there in an hour. I ended up waiting another 30mins for lukewarm casseroles, not cold. My sweet potato casserole wasn't fully covered with the pecan crust topping; it was only a little in the middle. And when I cooked them at 350° for an hour, as instructed, they didn't come out right. Also, the squash casserole tasted off and gave everyone a stomach ache. So, my advice to Roger's would be to not ever sell a lukewarm casserole again. It's a bacteria hazard if it isn't kept properly refrigerated after preparation. And obviously, my two toddlers and I were at the receiving end of that bacteria. I won't ever be eating here again due to this experience. Which sucks because I used to hold them at such...
Read moreHad not eaten here in a while as we live out of town and went out for lunch with some friends in Florence. I have eaten at a lot of BBQ restaurants around the south and this one is a solid “okay.” The staff is friendly, the dining area and restrooms are clean, and the price for the buffet was very good- $12 a head with the Senior discount. As for the food, the Buffett has everything you expect at a a southern BBQ restaurant, a good selection of vegetables - green beans, squash, okra, corn, Lima beans, sweet potato, mash potatoes. Meat selections included of course pork BBQ, pork ribs, chicken, hash and rice. Also corn bread, biscuits and hush puppies. I probably missed a couple of items to list because I don’t eat as much as I used to! The pork BBQ is shredded which is different than many places but it was good and speaking with my friends is the big draw. The only negative comments I can make is that the sweet potato casserole and the Mac and cheese looked and tasted like it was somewhat overcooked. The okra was not hot on which one table colleague commented was “underwhelming” and the string beans “stemmy.” Deserts included peach strudel and banana pudding which were “meh” and also ice cream and a strawberry shortcake. The cheesecakes behind the cash register looked really good and can be purchased at $8.50 a slice for eat in or take out. They do curb side delivery and there is ample parking on both sides and behind...
