Just visiting family in st Augustine and stopped here for a good lunch on the way. We wanted a few cocktails and saw a very decent variety of food options on the menu online. I find that the few things we were disappointed in could be fixed fairly easily. Firstly, the cocktail menu was impressive yet the 3 drinks we ordered we not executed well. You canât be a bar first in a bar and grill and fail at cocktails. I ordered a watermelon mojito. They came back asking if I was ok with raspberry instead. Menu listed it with watermelon vodka and fresh watermelon. So to not have one or both happens at times but it was a vodka mojito not a rum mojito to start. A little odd. Letâs say it didnât work with raspberry vodka, guessing there was no lime juice and there was way too much club soda. (Mojito- Rum, fresh lime, simple syrup, mint topped with club soda) Other two drinks were same issues. Conceptually didnât work and executed poorly. We ordered the nachos and pork rinds as apps and the rinds came first hot and popping. Tasted fresh and sprinkled with seasoning. Wonderful crunch with a side of bbq sauce. Nachos came out with dinner and were soggy and the cheese was hard. Basically fresh tortillas but before they had a chance to drain hot oil off of them they were put on a plate and shredded cheese added then possibly microwaved to melt cheese. Large pieces of lettuce and some jalapeños. Looked like a pico on the side versus fresh diced tomatoes as listed on menu. No sour cream as listed in menu either. Uneatable nachos, pass on these. My son had kids quesadillas with chicken which he loved. FiancĂ© had open faced roast beef subbed fries for mashed. Overall just ok. Gravy was salty and not as fresh as it should be. I had the mojo beef fajita flatbread. Normal I wouldnât complain about this one for having too much but there were just a bit too much on top. Steak was freshly cooked and a good cut of beef. The mojo was drizzled on after and the beef was not marinated in it just as a side note. Still tasted good just should have been executed as the menu stated. This massive menu is the root of the issues. Itâs nearly impossible to execute such a large menu at a high level on a consistent basis. They need to trim it down and executed at a higher level. Even the simple cheap nachos should be easy enough. And the bar needs someone to start over and go back to basics. Wanted more from this place but just needs someone to focus and correct these little...
Read moreI had to write a review after eating here last night with friends who live nearby. We live in Daytona and had never heard of this place, our friends come here a lot. The restaurant is located in a new strip mall type area, but this whole area is new like that, so its hard to create ambiance in these new buildings. The restaurant has a wall of individually painted wood panels that look amazing and creative and very cool. The check in kiosk looks like it was created from a whole tree! There is a bar there on one side of the restaurant and very comfortable booths which we waited 15 min for. The booths hold 6-8 people if you squeeze. We had 4 in our group. Our server was a kind young man with wonderfully curly hair and on the receipt, it says AJ. He was great and did a nice job with everything. He checked on us often and made sure we had whatever we needed. He is definitely a part of how nice the whole experience was. I ordered off the paper menu, because there were a few unique things that sounded delicious. Our friends said they loved the grits but they sell out early. I did not eat the grits this time, but I figured I would repeat their suggestion. I ordered a fried chicken thigh over mashed potatoes and covered in gravy. Everything I ate was scratch made. The chicken was some of the tastiest breading I have ever had! that gravy was wonderful, and the combination of flavors was so good!!! I consider myself hard to please in the food area, I am a foodie and this place was definitely someplace I would come back to. My side salad I ordered was fresh and had lots of chopped fresh veggies on top, it was the house salad. Hubby had the chicken pot pie and he said it was great. He ate the whole thing before I could try it! He also had a bowl of chili and I tried that, and it was not canned. It was scratch made. There are a lot of yummy options on their menu and though it didn't look like an amazing place from the outside, it was worth it. My suggestion if the owners are reading this, put some outside heaters and you could sit people out on the really nice patio. Maybe they didn't have enough servers for it, but its a great patio when it isn't 44 degrees outside.
The ONLY negative about the visit was a loud table of old ladies who were drinking and obnoxious. They finally left after a while. lots of TVs all over if you are...
Read moreWe found this establishment about two months ago near our home. Location is great for those nights you donât want to venture further for dinner. I have had the chicken murabella which was delicious however varies depending on the night as far as how itâs prepared, sometimes it is pounded extremely this and egg dipped and sautĂ©ed and sometimes the chicken is substantially thicken with breadcrumbs. Great both ways! Husband had had meatloaf and chicken parmesan . Meatloaf was good with hefty Portions but I found the chicken Parmesan to be bland. We have tried several desserts and they were all good. Service is friendly and we have met and spoke to the owner several times. Staff does not always ask if you want dessert and have slapped down the check and rushed away to have us flag them down to order dessert. Staff needs more training. I would like to suggest his waitstaff and hostesses should have some type of uniform. Dress is too casual for this environment and hair is sloppy around food. I donât want to see exposed underarms around my food and drink. Hair should be pulled back in a ponytail neatly at all times around food and a simple company logo t shirt or polo with black or khaki pants would garner more of a professional atmosphere and customers would know who the employees are. Even an apron would help. This includes the bartender also. There is too much of a biker vibe with the sloppy dress of employees. You have upscale homes in the area and should consider the demographic.I would love to bring family here occasionally however it needs a bit more polish before I could consider as there are so many...
