Cinco De Mayo — Restaurant in Florida

This is a fairly new Mexican restaurant that opened up in the World Golf Village, so it is local for us. Having spent 22 years in Arizona, I was spoiled hen it came to Mexican restaurants so I do not compare this place to most places out there.

I read a few reviews that called it authentic Mexican cuisine. Sorry, but it is not even close. The chips are from a bag and the food is definitely not fresh.

I have eaten there 4 times and each time I found the food greasy and usually not fresh tasting. The taco salad is very mushy because they gob on the guacamole and sour cream instead of putting it on the side. I have never had a good meal there but it is local, so I sacrificed quality for convenience.

A few days ago, we went there with a party of 12, kids and adults. We asked to split into 2 tables, one for the kids and one for the adults. While waiting, I noticed they seated two 8 person booths right next to each other with 2 people and 3 people that arrived after us. I asked the manager what the deal was and he refused to seat us at these 2 booths because they would have separate waiters and it would be too confusing so we have to wait until they have 2 tables with the same waiter. HUH???

I told him that was ridiculous and he basically told me tough, that is the way it is. I told him we would take our party of 12 elsewhere and he said go ahead, it doesn't matter to me. Well, I tolerated mediocre food at this place because of its location, but not any more! Not going to this grease pit anymore. If you want quality Mexican food this is...

Your gentleman host should be fired! I saw him run off and threaten 2 customers for no reason. I was waiting patiently for my food and never asked where it was or anything. After the lady said she was waiting for 20 min, he told her to leave and if she refused he would call the police. She was so upset and left. He was so aggressive to her and then laughed about it to another customer. He was thrilled at his behavior. When I politely asked if he was the owner, he said " I should be" and i advised the way you spoke to her was really uncalled for and I wanted to talk to the owner or manager. He became very passive aggressive with me and said if I opened my mouth again, he would kick me out as well. I advised i was not doing anything wrong and what would be the reason for doing so? He just was yelling and going on about people complaining about the wait time. I never once asked him about my food, only asked why he was talking to customers that way. If you are wondering why all of your loyal customers are leaving their to-go food and not coming back, that's why. He is literally running your customers off and threating to call the police if they don't leave. He also does not give accurate time for waiting and most likely part of the issue if people expect it in 10 min as stated and go in 20 min after ordering and still have to wait 15+ minutes. He should provide longer time when ordering...

Before reading the difference between the high marked reviews and the low, please note that MOST of the 1 star reviews are people who have less than 20 reviews to their account...take their criticism with a grain of salt. That being said, this restaurant is everything a good Mexican restaurant should be and MORE. We recently moved to a new area and tonight we decided to try out a new Mexican place. We stopped in to this place near where we lived and decided to give it a try. First impressions were good! Nice atmosphere. Nothing fancy but we felt comfortable and it gave us a sense of "we are here to enjoy ourselves". The prices were spot on! The salsa passed my test as well...great consistency, good rich tomato and cilantro flavors and just the perfect amount of spice! Chips had a good corn flavor as well as crispness. I ordered the carnitas...hands down, they were the second best Carnitas I have ever had. Moist, tender pulled pork spiced subtly and fresh tasting. Came with a toppings salad that included gaucamole and a whole pickled jalapeno. It was delicious!! They also had a full bar and a decent draft selection for a Mexican Restaurant...including a local IPA which I was excited about. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.
