Dear Management,
I recently visited Anejo Restaurant & Bar during my stay in Miami, coming from out of state. I wanted to provide feedback on my experience, focusing on two key aspects: Food and Customer Service.
Customer Service: I must express my disappointment with the customer service, which I rate an 2 out of 10. Upon our arrival, the young hostess, who happened to be blonde, inquired about our reservation status. Despite not having one, she informed us about a guest performer event and reserved tables for their guests. We opted to sit at the bar, which was vacant, and she reluctantly allowed it with the condition of a 45-minute time limit, despite our early arrival at 8:00 pm.
The bartender who attended to us was commendable, displaying attentiveness and kindness throughout our visit. We appreciated the ambiance and overall aesthetic of the restaurant, as well.
Food: On the food front, we ordered the Rabo and a full rack of ribs, both of which were served hot, fresh, and of excellent taste. We have no complaints in this regard.
However, my positive impressions were marred by an incident at the end of our meal. At 8:30 pm, I requested the check from the bartender. While I was finalizing the payment at 8:34 pm (totaling over $100), the same blonde hostess approached my son at the bar and requested him to vacate his seat for another customer. Despite the bartender indicating that we were in the process of settling our bill, she persisted. This was particularly upsetting as we had adhered to the initially stipulated time limit of 8:45 pm. Such a breach of trust and professionalism is concerning, especially considering the financial commitment made.
It is imperative to uphold ethical standards and professionalism in business operations. Regardless of scheduled performances, all patrons should be treated with respect and dignity. Being allocated a specific timeframe already creates a sense of being rushed, and for the hostess to disregard her prior commitment only exacerbated the situation.
I appreciate the bartender's intervention, but this incident left me feeling greatly uncomfortable. I urge you to prioritize customer service training, emphasizing the importance of respecting paying customers and upholding the integrity of your...
Read moreThis used to be a favorite Cuban spot of mine but I just went yesterday and the entire menu has changed. The waitress told us that the restaurant is under new management.
Upon arriving with a party of 8, we were promptly seated but it took over 15 minutes for someone to greet us, pour us water, ask if we wanted any drinks. This was at no fault to our waitress. She was working about 5 tables while others, including the host, were standing around on their phones acting like we were invisible.
I ordered the ropa vieja since my regular, the vaca frita was removed from the menu. (What Cuban restaurant doesn’t have vaca frita on the menu?) The beef in the ropa vieja was mixed with some kind of other white meat (chicken?) and did not have good flavor. The sauce was very greasy as well. My mother-in-law ordered the pechuga de pollo. Upon cutting it open, the entire chicken breast was pink/red in the middle. We showed our waitress who then went to speak to the chef about our complaints. When she returned, she said she had to take the chicken with her to the back to show the chef. (I guess his/her arrogance didn’t allow them to believe the chicken couldn’t have been cooked) All in all, the waitress did her best considering none of this was her fault, and it was very clear that she was short handed and frustrated with the performance/effort of her co-workers. I wish I had remembered her name, but she tried her very best to accommodate us. Go work for another establishment!
I do not see this new administration lasting very long. We had a very bad experience, and sadly I will not be returning to what used to be a very solid...
Read moreThis place was a complete disappointment. The food was ridiculously overpriced for such tiny portion. The tables are crammed so close together that you can practically join your neighbor’s conversation without trying. They brought out the food quickly, but not in a good way, it felt rushed, like they couldn’t wait to get rid of us. The second we put our forks down, someone swooped in to snatch the plates away. At one point, they even took our fries halfway through without asking if we were done. It was like being herded through a meal eat fast, don’t relax, just pay and get out. We were celebrating a birthday, and when we asked about it, they said they could do a “free version,” which turned out to be a staff member holding a light and saying a dull “happy birthday” once. The “real” celebration the one with actual energy cost $100. Imagine that. At any decent restaurant, they’ll at least bring a small dessert and sing for you just to make you feel special. Here, it was all about the upsell, not the experience. The worst part? There was a woman in the bathroom who looked completely out of place, sitting there with a basket for tips like it was some kind of guilt trap. The whole vibe was uncomfortable. This restaurant clearly cares more about squeezing every dollar out of people than giving guests a good time. The servers were okay nothing memorable, nothing bad but everything else was cold, transactional, and joyless. Without exaggeration, it’s one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. I wouldn’t recommend...
