This is not a complementary review. 8PM on a Saturday night, parking lot was pretty full, but not many customers inside. It looks old inside and too brightly lit. The waitress took a good long time to get to us. Chips and salsa were out fast. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas. We waited and checked with the waitress who said, “it was coming”, waited some more. When the “manager” brought the pitcher and two fruit adorned glasses he started to ‘attempt’ to pour into the glasses. This is when it gets weird. We were seated together on one side of the booth, the other side was unoccupied.
He poured and spilled more on the cushion than in the glass. A lot of spilled margarita. Then picked up the second glass and spilled it over the cushion and the table again. I was shocked, it was a mess. He said, I will get you a new……and walked away. He came back with a big stack of dinner napkins wiped up the cushion, table and floor. There’s more,…. the glasses were half full, but I took a sip. I told my friend, “..this is orange juice.” It was orange juice, not bar mix, not tequila, straight Minute Maid style OJ. I told the manager who brought it, it was orange juice, he quickly picked up the pitcher and walked off with it. Odd. Ten or so minutes later he comes back with a new pitcher and starts to fill up or 1/2 full glasses of orange juice. I reminded him that our glasses were orange juice. So, he took the two glasses and walked away.
I took a straw and tasted the new pitcher that was indeed margarita. Manager and waitress come back, meanwhile guacamole, guy came by make us some really good guac. Now manager has two pint beer glasses and again attempts to pour making a ridiculous mess all over the the floor and table, we, including the waitress are shocked. I told him to slow down, he was shaking so much he couldn’t hold the glass still. I said, “I’ll do it.” Manager and waitress clean up the mess again. I said to my dinner date, let’s get out of here, we will eat the Guac and take the real pitcher of margaritas home. The waitress came back to take our order we said no thanks. She apologized sincerely and said she didn’t know what was wrong with the guy, hand terrible shaking and spilling. We asked for our bill, ate the Guac, which was really good, and took off. ...

A full parking lot is often the most reliable sign of a restaurant's quality, and Agave D’Oro validates this theory before you even step through the door. The bustling energy is palpable from the moment you enter, where a chalkboard of daily specials hints at the culinary delights to come. The transition from its former life as a Bennigan's is remarkable, now exuding an authentic Mexican cantina vibe with vibrant decor and spacious aisles, a feeling further enhanced on weekends by a lively mariachi band that serenades guests from table to table. Service is swift and welcoming; we were seated immediately and presented with chips and salsa almost simultaneously. While the bar boasts an impressive selection of beers, the true star is the margarita menu, featuring generously poured, sizable cocktails that are both potent and delicious, setting a high standard for the meal to follow.
The menu delivers on the promise of authentic, well-crafted fare. My choice, the shrimp chimichangas, arrived as two perfectly crispy flour tortillas, generously stuffed and smothered with a rich cheese dip. It also has a generous amount of lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and tomato on the side to add your own favorites (it is not needed though), and Each bite was a delightful combination of texture and flavor. My wife's taco salad, while appearing modest in its crispy flour tortilla bowl, was a deceptively filling and flavorful combination of shredded chicken, beans, and fresh toppings. Both dishes showcased the kitchen's commitment to delivering hearty, satisfying portions without sacrificing quality, presenting classic Mexican-American comfort food at its finest.
Concluding our meal, the unavailable fried ice cream led us to a delightful alternative: the Tres Leches cake. It was a perfectly executed classic, providing a sweet and satisfying end to the evening. Despite the packed house, the service remained attentive, and while the high traffic was evident in the restrooms, it did little to detract from the overall outstanding experience. Agave D’Oro stands out as a must-visit destination, offering a fantastic combination of authentic, flavorful cuisine, a lively atmosphere, and exceptional value. It's a genuine local gem that has earned its...
Read morewe tried them 4 days after they opened, and the service was extremely slow but the food was amazing. They were really new so we didn't mind the slow service and figured it would get better. We love horchata, but nowhere in town gives free refills on it so we don't order it. We saw they had it on their menu, and asked the server if it was free refills, and were told that it was, and he even brought us a pitcher of it as there were three of us drinking it. We went back a few weeks later and the service was quite a bit better. We ordered horchata again, with the previous experience of free refills. The server never mentioned that it wasn't free refills, and it wasn't until we got the check that we realized that we were charged for each refill. We mentioned to the server that the last time we were there that we weren't charged for refills, and if we had known that there weren't free refills we would not have ordered it this time. She just shrugged and said that the last server we had was wrong, he was new, and refused to do anything about it. We spent $25 dollars just on horchata. My husband called the next day to speak to a manager about this situation. The manager scoffed at the thought of free refills on horchata, stating that 'no one here in melbourne gives free refills on horchata' and when my husband brought up that the first time we had eaten there we had received free refills on it. She again scoffed at him and hung up on him. There is no indication that there is not free refills on their menu, and in fact it is under the same section of the menu as the sodas and teas which states free refills. Had the server mentioned to us when we asked for our first refill, or any subsequent refill that there wasn't free refills on horchata, or been willing to offer something when we mentioned that the last time we ate here we received free refills this would not have been an issue. But as it was we were charged $25 for drinks that we were under the impression were free refills and there was nothing done to rectify the situation, AND we were scoffed at when we spoke to a...
