I took my wife and two young children here for the Monday night ramen soup bowl specials and I was blown away. These ramen bowls were the best I have ever had in my 52 years. In fact, it was probably the tastiest, most savory food I ever had. The duck breast was tender and delicious. The seaweed and egg in the ramen was incredible. There were tiny, white pickled mushrooms that blew my mind and the pork belly was beyond compare. Drinks were unique and earthy and delicious. I had the Papa Yo mixed drink that was earthy and fragrant and right kind of strong and frothy. . Wine pours were generous and the wine was very good quality. There was pleasant, ambient, techno type trance music playing that my young daughter danced to all night and set the mood for a happy evening. Server was very friendly and tried very hard. The only suggestion I have is that the server should clean the table and take dishes without being asked. Otherwise I can't complain. I'd give this place 5 stars but for the table not being cleared automatically. I love this place and will return daily for the happy hour and every Monday for the ramen. I'm very curious to know what the rest of the menu tastes like after this positive and tasty culinary experience. This...
Read moreI'm giving a generous 4 starts because the food was actually quite well done. The service at the bar, however, left a lot to be desired. My friends and I were originally helped by a bartender after sitting and waiting for service for a few minutes, and having to waive him down (still don't know his name). But, after receiving our initial cocktails and placing our food order, the service ended, with the only exception of Tyson, who had the courtesy of checking on us twice during our visit. We had to request additional refills of water, and I would have ordered an additional cocktail or two if I were approached, but that never occurred. We had empty plates and empty glasses sitting in front of us for well over 30 minutes. Thankfully, having good friends and good conversation makes the time fly by, but the lack of service was disappointing, to say the least. Did I happen to mention that we were one of only 2 parties sitting at the bar needing attention by the time our meals were finished? Will I try seabar again? Perhaps. The food really was quite good, as was the one cocktail I was able to order. Will I brag about Seabar? That would be a resounding no...
Read moreChic decor, a hip vibe and a menu that reads like California or Miami characterize SEABAR, Gulf Gate’s latest upscale offering. We arrived early to beat the Friday night crowd and indulged in an appetizer feast that was as delicious as it was unusual. The togarashi popcorn coated in brown butter, honey and savory spices primed our tastebuds for a refreshing old-fashioned, made with just enough simple syrup to tame the bitters without detracting from the smoothness of the bourbon. The calamari with squid ink aioli was crispy and earthy, and the coconut shrimp croquettes literally oozed flavor. The large serving of endamame hummus was far prettier and more palate-pleasing than the traditional chickpea variety. We were seated at 5:30 p.m. and, by the time we left two hours later, the retro aqua bar stools were filled and the glam gold lame banquettes at the tables were, too. Welcome to the neighborhood, SEABAR; we’re glad...
