Bartletts — Restaurant in Florida

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED!! Driving by this place for YEARS as Bartlettes and its previous iterations, we were surprised by MANY MANY things- 1st- RESERVATIONS were REQUIRED 2nd-Dinner was now offered- previously only nibbles and drinks (not very good and pricey). And it was VERY VERY delicious. 3rd- the music was amazing and at a decibel level that conversation with friends wasn't strained, even sitting in front of it. 4th- Food was amazing- 3 Chilean Sea Bass Dinner specials and a burger meal. All were delicious- not a morsel left on the plate. Wait staff were soooo busy the Friday nite we were there, but the wine with entertainment made it an easy wait.

AND the kindness of the owner was what was most remarkable. There were NO SEATS available, even at the bar, they were packed and told that we could be seated at 9.45-the 1st opening available. I walked to the back to find something to put on the wet seat cushions from the rain earlier in the day and ran into one of the staff named Chad. I told him I didn’t know that reservations were required and we’re locals who had stayed away due to previous owners offerings. I suggested to him they should save a table each nite for locals who are returning after a long absence, for them to try them out again. He put fresh tablecloths on the seats out front so we didn’t have to sit on wet cushions while our party was deciding on a plan B.

The next thing I know the owner Carolyn comes out to tell us she would make space for us since all of the above. We will be coming back and have been telling everyone about how fabulous everything was and are active ambassadors due to the dedication of the owner caring and attending to her clientele in the most genuine kind way we’ve ever had the privilege of experiencing. This was our first visit and after reading some of the reviews, I now understand the lower ratings. Took 2 1/2 hours for us to eat there. Waiting took about an hour, when they told us about 30 minutes. Wouldn’t usually complain about the time waiting, if the food & service was worth it. Food is about normal, nothing special and nothing like the pictures suggested. Wait staff I don’t blame them, they seemed to be trying their best, but it took us 30 minutes to get a drink(which we had reminded them of) and an hour to get our food. The live music was fine, however there was a gentleman there, not eating, standing by the band smoking a cigar. I read a similar review that said they were told it’s okay because it’s outside, but being in the restaurant business I will tell you this is against Florida law pertaining to restaurants. The person smoking has to be a certain amount of feet away from the opening of the entrance regardless if it’s outside and a certain distance away from food. You might want to check this out. Hands Down Some of The Best Food I Have Eaten!

I had the halibut, absolutely outstanding. The bread and the spread they serve is some of the best I have ever eaten. They should sell the bread and spread.

Had Royal Red shrimp cocktail.. Superb! The grits are very creamy and buttery.. perfectly delicious. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely to die for! Had the carrot cake which was very moist and some of the best around.

Very cool atmosphere and local vibe. We were dressed very casual and we fit right in. Very cool seating, some indoors and some outdoor. The live band was really good, played GenX music, best there ever was.

Pam was our server and was an absolute delight. The owner came by our table to see if we liked everything, we said no.. We Loved everything!
