Hammock Grill by JT, formerly JT’s Seafood Shack, is serving up a masterclass in flavor down on Scenic A1A in Palm Coast, and I’m already counting the days until my next visit! I rolled in with my brother, ready to dig into some serious eats, and let me tell you, their special Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was a spicy, crispy, soul-warming masterpiece. It’s like the sandwich gods decided to crank the heat and douse it with just the right amount of Southern swagger—my taste buds are still sending me thank-you notes. My brother went for the pork chops, and he was raving like he’d just discovered the meaning of life. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection—those chops were a home run.
The vibe is pure Florida charm, with that cozy, under-the-oak-trees feel that makes you want to kick back with a cold one and stay a while. The staff? Absolute rockstars. They’re friendly, quick on their feet, and probably deserve a medal for dealing with my endless questions about the menu. The place has a fresh coat of paint and a revamped feel, but I’ve got one tiny plea: Hammock Grill, please, please bring back those epic seafood boils from the JT’s Seafood Shack days! I’m dreaming of crab legs, shrimp, and all the fixings steaming in that spicy broth—my heart (and stomach) would be forever grateful.
Everything from the food to the atmosphere screams “come back soon,” and trust me, I will. Hammock Grill by JT, you’re killing it, and I’m already plotting my next order—maybe I’ll even convince my brother to share those pork chops next time (yeah, right). Keep the good vibes and great...
Read moreWe live in St Augustine & never minded the drive! We had been customer’s for years & always loved the atmosphere & the food was phenomenal! Then when the owner changed hands it totally went down hill! We are so glad to see the owner from before has decided to reopen! We went tonight & we were so impressed! They’ve done some updating inside & out! Tonight they had a great band at their stage outside! Also some little areas to entertain kids & the weather cooperated beautifully! Now let’s talk about the best part “The Food” ! Everything we ordered was all that it used to be & more! We’ve always sat at the bar & Kim & Carol took wonderful care of us from start to finish! We started with their yummy devilled eggs & gator tail! We then ordered 2 of their specials A beautiful piece mahi topped with crabmeat, mashed potatoes & brussel sprouts! The steak special tender & cooked perfect at medium rare with fingerling potatoes, asparagus & fresh mozzarella with tomatoes! Of course our daughter got her usual Mac n cheese with chicken that is still her favorite & exactly like before! Since we hadn’t been since they reopened we decided to go all the way & ordered their crème brûlée & strawberry bread pudding which were both delicious! We did have some leftovers & a bonus for tomorrow, I won’t have to cook! Needless to say we definitely recommend all to give it a try as you won’t be disappointed! Thank you David & your great staff & we will...
Read moreI recently interviewed for a seasonal bartender position at Hammock Grill by JTs, and the experience was, unfortunately, a complete waste of time. The interviewer, Maddie, recognized me from a brief stint working together at another job 4-5 years ago. Back then, I was young, less responsible, and only employed there for about a month while holding another full-time job. Since then, I’ve grown significantly, now working two jobs (70+ hours a week) to support my wife and soon-to-be-born child.
One of the first questions Maddie asked was, “Do you still drink at work?” This felt unprofessional and judgmental, implying preconceived notions about me based on my past. She acknowledged recognizing my name and researching me online before the interview, which makes me question why I was even scheduled. The interview lasted barely two minutes, forcing me to leave my other job early and lose critical work hours my family relies on.
I understand if I’m not the right fit, but calling me in for an interview only to ask a loaded question based on outdated assumptions is frustrating and disrespectful. I hope Hammock Grill by JTs can improve their interview process to respect candidates’ time and focus on their current...
