I've been here a few times so far and this is one of the few places that I enjoy trying new things. It's hard to have a favorite dish here because everything I've had so far is so delicious! The service and food is always amazing! If you're looking for the best pizza place in town, this is it!
Editing my original review: Last night on July 19, I went to Blue Highway, after not going for a year. After a 30+ minute wait, after being told it'd be 20, turns out they forgot to notify us that our table was ready. Then the server was by far the worst interaction with a server I've experienced. Matthew was rude from the beginning, took a long time to come take our orders, bring us anything. I know my pizza sat at the window because the cheese was already hardening.
Upon receiving my receipt, I saw a "service charge for 3%" I asked about it and made a comment to my table that things like that should be illegal because it's a surprise after you've already had the food. The server got very defensive, keep in mind I wasn't saying it to him and he became condescending. After I pay, he stands beside me and pulls up my tip, says "Oh Woooow" I ignored that. Then as I was leaving, he says "That's not cool" I turned around and said "because you received a $5 tip?" He responds very snarky about it. I'm sorry but you are not required to tip 20+% especially when the service isn't great and comes with a side of attitude. I regret giving him anything at all after seeing how he acted.
Then I ask for a manger, he storms on slamming doors AND DOESN'T GET THE MANAGER. I go up to two woman standing at the check-in stand and ask for one of them to get the manager. Turns out one of them is the manager, she was standing 7 feet away. So, I know she heard at least some of this while I was mentioning to my friends I was going to wait for him to get the manager. She apologized and gave me a $25 gift card. However, after this interaction, I'm not sure I can even come back to this location. I have never, NEVER, experienced anything like this from a place of business. Keep in mind, I was in a group and my friends tipped generously, even though, it wasn't deserved for his service.
Matthew needs some better training on how to just walk away from a table and keep his attitude behind...
Read moreOverall, the food was good, and while the atmosphere was acceptable, it wasn’t particularly impressive—it served its purpose. The real issue, however, was the service, and specifically the waitress.
When my friend requested a refill of sweet tea, it didn’t arrive. I later asked another server for napkins and reminded them again about the tea. When the waitress eventually brought the tea, she rudely stated, “I told you I’d bring it to you!” At that point, both my friend and I were ready to leave.
Then, when the check arrived, the prices were different from what was advertised online. When we brought this up, the waitress dismissively said, “Didn’t you look at the prices on the paper menu?” Frankly, we hadn’t. We had already decided what to order while waiting 30 minutes for a table, based on the prices we saw online. The manager was called over but repeated the same line. She even took out her phone, saw the same pricing we had seen online, and still insisted on charging the higher prices listed on the paper menu. There was no effort made to resolve what is clearly false advertising. Neither the waitress nor the manager seemed to care, and it showed in their complete lack of action or empathy.
While the difference in price was small, this practice is dishonest and deceptive. Over time, with the number of customers they serve, the amount of money collected from false pricing likely adds up to a significant sum. This behavior is unacceptable, and I intend to notify the Federal Trade Commission. A restaurant should not be allowed to profit from misleading pricing, and I believe others should be made aware of these...
Read moreMake the time to get off the highway and visit the Blue Highway Pizzeria - a deceptively upscale eatery hidden inside of a modest roadside pizza shop. From the moment that we walked through the door the aromas immediately let me know that we had discovered something great. Inside we found a clean, spacious dining area, friendly well-trained staff, reasonable prices, gluten free options and exceptionally delicious food! The Blue Highway Pizzeria is obviously run by someone who loves creating and delivering the best upscale food possible.
My wife and I were on the first leg of the long car ride back to Pennsylvania after dropping our freshman daughter off at Eckard College. We spotted the Blue Highway Pizzeria when we exited the highway for gas and decided to take a chance. Walking through the door the aromas of delicious food and fresh ingredients filled my head and my suddenly watering mouth told me that we had just stumbled upon something great.
My wife’s Funghi Pizza came on a fresh made, Gluten Free crust and loaded with mushrooms. The crunchy, delicious, medium-thin crust delivered hot, melted cheese and mushrooms. All ingredients were fresh and perfectly balanced. I ordered the The Highway Roast beef sandwich with roasted red onion, white cheddar cheese and horseradish sauce on a fresh, house-baked roll. The horseradish sauce gave just the right amount of tang without overpowering. My meal came with homemade pickles and potato chips. I highly recommend it with a homemade Sweet Tea. The Blue Highway Pizzeria is easily the best pizza shop for 1,000 miles up the...
