Bruster's Real Ice Cream — Restaurant in Florida

I am deeply unsatisfied with my recent experience at Bruster's Ice Cream in Windermere. A few months ago, I visited with my two sons and a friend. Both of my boys have severe allergies to dairy, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts, which I clearly communicated when ordering. I have visited this location a few times before and appreciated their nut-free and vegan options.

During this visit, I ordered the vanilla vegan and cookies and cream vegan ice creams after confirming with the staff that they had the dairy-free and nut-free cookies and cream available. However, after two bites, my youngest son complained of an itchy throat. Upon inquiry, the staff member admitted she had given us the regular version instead of the vegan one. Despite my explicit mention of the allergies, she failed to provide the correct order, putting my son's health at serious risk.

I had to administer Benadryl immediately and he vomited. Throughout this ordeal, not once did the staff check on us, offer assistance, or show any concern. They did not even consider calling 911. We only received water upon asking for some. The young lady who made the mistake continued to argue instead of taking responsibility.

When I called a few days later, I spoke with the shift lead, Ashley, who seemed apologetic but ultimately left me feeling unsatisfied. Later, I learned from a friend that a staff member had downplayed the incident, showing a complete lack of understanding of the gravity of the situation.

This experience was traumatizing, and I was on the verge of taking my son to the hospital and administering epinephrine. The lack of proper response and care from the staff is unacceptable. I couldn't get in touch with the owners as the shift lead didn't even ask for my name or contact information.

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in Windermere is hands-down one of the best dessert spots in Central Florida! From the moment you walk up to the window, you're greeted with a friendly smile and that irresistible smell of freshly made waffle cones. You instantly know you're in for a treat. What sets this Bruster’s apart is not just the wide variety of flavors (seriously, there’s something for everyone!) but the quality. The ice cream is ultra-creamy, rich, and tastes like it was made just minutes before you arrived. One of my favorite parts is that they rotate flavors, so there’s always a reason to come back. Their sundaes are decadent, milkshakes are perfectly thick, and don’t even get me started on the banana splits, they are absolute perfection! The staff here truly makes the experience even better. They’re patient, upbeat, and always happy to give samples if you're torn between flavors. If you're in the Windermere or Winter Garden area, do yourself a favor and stop by Bruster’s. This ice cream shop is unlike any other. The staff goes above and beyond any other. I took my niece there after a horrible day and not only did the owner, Anna, take the time to show her how her favorite ice cream is made, she brought out all the toppings and let her “make” her ice cream herself. As an owner you typically don’t see this amount of investment in their customers. I am so grateful to Anna for helping my sweet girl get through her day.
