If you're reading this, you searched google and let me begin by telling you, this is should not be listed as a single $. This place was $80 for four extremely small entrees, 2 fries, and 2 drinks... As far as the food- after about 30 minutes, my daughter had grilled chicken wings, which the hostess/cashier oversold as the "best in the state". Nope, try Gators Dockside. These wings were small and dry. My son had chicken fingers, which consisted of 5 thin, grilled chicken strips the size of 4 McDonalds chicken nuggets. (**using McDonald's as an universal size reference, as most of us have had Mickey D's at one point in our lives). My husband and I each ordered blackened mahi sandwiches. The fish fillet was the size of 1.5 chicken nuggets. and had mild flavoring. My husband had the mango aioli, which he says "saved the sandwich". Everything is ala-carte, so we shared 2 seasoned fries, each were about the size of a McDonald's small fry- they were sparingly seasoned with salt and pepper. (We were expecting curly fry seasoning). Drinks were expensive. We shared 2 between 4 people, but there was the option of unlimited refills.
The thing that stood out to me the most, was that we were there on a Saturday afternoon, around 2:30pm. The place had tons of TVs on: typical sports bar on a university, not a game day. Just a few groups of customers. BUT there were about 5 OLD men (age: 70s-80s) saddled up to the bar. They were obviously regulars, and they were flirting with a group of day-drinking, girls, buying them shots and pitchers. EW! It was gross. The men were obviously not students. They were not families visiting their students. There was definite cringe-worthy effort happening, to get these girls wasted. I understand that a bar is a bar, and management wants to sell drinks, but these old men give off serious predator vibes, and should be told to find...
Read moreI ate here for a school function last Wednesday and right off the bat, I was not thrilled. You must ask for assistance while ordering from the kiosk, because it’s complicated. Then it took 20 mins for the burger to arrive at the table and even though our party of 10 ordered at the same time, one burger came out at a time for the next 20 mins. The burgers were just horrible. (And I eat fast food weekly, which says something). The burger didn’t even come close to the 12 am Taco Bell tacos I had a week prior. Let’s start off with the bread, which was completely stale. The meat was dry and tasteless. The cheese wasn’t even melted and felt like an afterthought tossed on at the last second. The tomato and lettuce were wilted and even though I stated no pickle, yup, it came with a pickle which was mushy. Half of the drinks in the machine were out of service and when I informed the cashier, I assumed she would look interested, but instead she merely looked down at her hands and replied, “uh huh…ok”. She never addressed the issue. To say the least, it was the worst food and service I’ve had in decades. Oh, and let’s not forget about the industrial ceiling which was avidly leaking water so the establishment had a large bucket sitting in the middle of the restaurant. There was water on the floor next to the bucket and someone nearly slipped. Hazard! So, honestly,...
Read moreI don’t often review for anything however, after today I can honestly say I will not be returning. As a student with dietary restrictions, I cannot eat red meat and have been to Burger U often because I enjoy their chicken sandwiches. On this day in particular, I noticed that one of their specials offered a Caprese burger and it sounded amazing and I asked for that, except inquired about opting out of the burger to replace it with a chicken breast. What came next was absolutely horrendous because the nice lady at the cashier did not know if she could make the simple switch and asked the cashier next to her before going to the back to ask, yet again. Five minutes passed and another lady came and informed me that it would be a $2 up charge on a sandwich that was /already/ $9.99. That didn’t seem right and I expressed that, to which the manager came out. By this time I had already given up on the caprese because paying $13 for a chicken sandwich is absolutely ridiculous for a University establishment. The manager was rude and explained gruffly that one farm animal costs more than the other when all I wanted to do was replace a burger with chicken. By the time the manager had come out, I was in tears. It then took 20 more minutes for my sandwich to come out. I will not be returning because this whole experience was...
