Worst establishment I've ever patroned. They called the police (whom I was going to call anyway, as I felt threatened by the manager) and trespassed an Uber Eats driver, simply because I waited 35 minutes between receiving my first and second orders from there, and I actually had the guts to speak up about it. They let their first order get ice cold, while I waited. Four other delivery drivers walked away and canceled during the time that I waited there.
"Nate" the "General Manager" (that's all he would ever give me) had decided to serve all 30 people that were in line (before and after I arrived), before processing my single nachos order for my second customer. Even over all the patron noise, I could overhear him clearly about where he thought that I belonged in line. I was genuinely quiet, respectful, and stood in the corner for the first 20 minutes.
After 30 minutes, I asked multiple times to several employees for the proprietor/store's corporate ownership contact information, which was repeatedly denied to me by Nate. Nate looked shocked that I would imply he wasn't in charge or something, when all I wanted was the contact info for whomever owns all of the locations, so I could lodge a complaint in a calm fashion, instead of a heated setting. Nate told me I could cancel my Uber order (and not get paid) and leave, because he wasn't going to serve me. Irate and shocked at this treatment, I shouted. I admit this. I'm sorry to any patrons that had to hear this interaction, but I'm not sorry for what I said.
Instead of completing my simple order and getting me out the door, Nate instructed everyone not to serve me, repeatedly screamed loudly for me to get out. He said this like 30 times, all robotic like. I genuinely thought he was going to punch or hit me at several points during this interaction, when he leaned in. I was physically escorted out by more than one imposing person. After I walked outside to call Uber support for help, shaking and in genuine fear for my safety, the restaurant phoned UCF law enforcement, whom approached me while I was talking to Uber.
An hour and four officers later, I'm banned permanently from what's supposedly a friendly neighborhood taco joint, all because, when it boils down to it, he didn't want to serve me. News flash, Nate, 35 minutes is an absolutely unacceptable length of time to make people wait that deliver food on your behalf. No one else would've waited that long for your food. Obviously, I was your patsy. But, never again! You know, since I can't come back and all.
I'm sure the restaurant will dispute this version of events with its own, and that's why we have free speech in this country. I've not said one hateful or profane thing in this review and spoken nothing but truth. So it shall remain. If you're the store/chain/franchise owner and would like to open a calm, rational dialogue, well, I'm sure the police gave you my contact info. 🤣
Never even got to try the food, but this experience was enough to make me want to give that first order to a homeless person. I'll update my review if I actually decide to choke it down.
I'm a chill, level-headed person 99.9% of the time. Thanks for making what should've been an otherwise normal work night for me absolutely miserable. Cheers to Nate and the folks at Gringos Locos, where the loco is express,...
Read moreI have visited the Downtown and Milk District locations and always enjoyed the food and service provided. Unfortunately, my experience at the UCF location was not a pleasurable one. We arrived around 8 pm on a Sunday, and there were only 2 patrons in the restaurant, so I was a little confused as to why it took so long for the two women (standing right in front of us on the other side of the counter) to greet us and ask for our order. I am all for co-workers mingling and having a good time, but blatantly ignoring 2 customers, so you can finish a story is not the best first impression for a guest.
In addition to a bad first impression, multiple issues occurred, and I will detail them below.
My boyfriend's order was placed, and the woman decided to start another conversation with her co-worker while I stood there for 2-3 minutes. As I placed my order, she seemed confused when I asked for "3 soft tacos - 1 chicken and 2 pork - topped with cheese, sour cream & onions. I repeated the order, and she hesitantly said, "ok."
I approached the cashier and told him my order and specified the toppings I would like on 3 tacos to make sure there were no issues. The woman handed him the order, and he looked it over, packaged it, and we were on our way.
I could not see the order from where I was standing, but I spoke with the gentleman seconds before confirming my toppings. To my dismay, when we arrived home, I received tacos topped with lettuce, cheese & onions - sans sour cream. I called and asked if I would come back in and get the correct order, and they obliged.
The second order had the toppings correct but was filled with only a few fat pieces from the pork (one of the tacos was supposed to be chicken, but they made ALL of them pork. The amount of sour cream and onions loaded up in the taco that was stone cold and uneatable.
We ordered queso, and I thought it didn't really taste like queso, but that may be a preference thing.
$22, and I still did not get to eat dinner, and I wasted double the amount of gas going back-and-forth. All it would have taken was proper customer service (which includes listening, and if you can't remember.. ask!), and none of this would have happened.
After this experience, I don't even know if I will ever go to the...
Read moreNormally the team here is very friendly and kind; however, the girl who helped me today was so absolutely miserable and condescending that I will take a drive that’s twice as long to another Gringos Locos every time over coming to this location. She called out an order which I thought might be mine. I asked for if there was a name on the order and she said no. I asked for the specific ingredients and she said it was only pork. She then handed out another order and called my name immediately after. When I claimed my order, she condescendingly said, “You know you only ordered pork right? This is your order.” I knew I added other toppings so I was confused as to why there was apparently only pork on my tacos to which she said, “There’s lettuce and cilantro and stuff too. I’m just saying it’s a pork taco for short.” She clearly had access to the name and ingredients associated with my order yet chose not to check either when I was trying to confirm if the order was mine or not. After actively choosing not to check this information which would have resolved the misunderstanding, she then talked down to me as if it was my fault for thinking the food which she described inaccurately wasn’t mine. All of the confusion could have been avoided had she simply checked the order information in the...
