Cappy's was a treat! As we walked up to the restaurant, we loved how the building looked and how it had a good amount of outdoor seating. As we entered, the restaurant we got hit with that delicious old school pizzeria smell. It felt like we stepped back in time to an old school pizzeria up in New England. It was dark with lots of dark wood and people just everywhere. You could tell this place was going to be good. Ok, let's get to it! There will be a wait but that should be expected for a good restaurant with good food. We ended up ordering a Chicago style deep dish Veggie pizza and a New York style pepperoni with extra cheese. Both came out hot and looked amazing. My first few bites of the New York style Pepperoni pizza was ok. It tasted good, but then, as I kept taking more bites, I noticed something magical was happening. It got better with each bite. I started to get a wonderful flavor dance party going on in my mouth. Yes! This pizza ended up being very good. Same with the deep dish, it seemed to get better with each bite as well. The crust of this deep dish was cooked perfectly, and the flavor was on point. Now, to make our amazing pizza experience better, we stumbled on some unique beverages. I got a delicious white stout called Fluffanutter, and yes, it was everything I thought I might be. My girlfriend got the IPA called Super Freak, which she thought was very food. The service was very good and they kept the bustling crowd satisfied. Can't wait to try again. If you like a comfy, friendly location that is perfect for a date or for a family dinner this place works!

Left this place completely underwhelmed. I live nearby and always looked forward to trying Cappy’s and even wanted to make it a “family tradition”. I was so hoping the experience would turn out good, but it never took a turn for the better. The place is incredibly charming and feels like a small town pizza place (which is great). The walls are covered in incredible memorabilia! However, it also operates like a small town place. To their credit, we went on a busy Friday night, and the wait was expected. But what became really evident is how inefficient the check in process is. I read a one star review from 4 years ago criticizing the fact that they check you in by having you write your name on a clipboard. It hasn’t changed since then, and it’s extremely inefficient. I am not sure if the staff was shorthanded, but the empty tables just sat there dirty as the list grew longer. I really was hoping the food would be incredible, which would’ve taken away all the stress of getting a table (honestly, I’m one of those people that think food is most important, next to courteous service). Unfortunately, in ordering the deep dish pizza “Cappy’s” style, we got a pizza crust with lots of tomato sauce and barely any other ingredients. Now, I know deep dish is covered in tomato sauce, but we could barely find any pepperoni, ham or sausage in our pizza. Again, this may have been due to a busy night, but that doesn’t really justify. The server did ask my husband how things were, and he didn’t speak up, but I’m sure they would’ve tried to remediate the situation. It’s sad, but we don’t think we’ll be coming back.

I went twice within the week I found out about this place it was so good, and just happened to be just for Pizza as Takeout. I'm in the midst of moving with my sister and after a long day of work from building and organizing everything, I just wanted a nice big pizza. This spot was local and had good reviews so I didn't even think twice. I found it cool that not only did that have 2 listed 'options' even though you can really get anything, but they also do Chicago OR New York style!! You don't see that everywhere..The service was amazing and truly helpful both times- we were recognized during my second return. Both times I got the Cappy, Chicago style and both times it was perfectt. Like so yummy, they know how to cook a dang pizza, and consistently. Now I have a new local favorite. Prices are a little high, but I'm okay with it. !!! UPDATE: Just had to update from my last review because I finally dined-in and the food was so consistent and still amazing. I think even better because it was straight from the oven but seriously, such a great pizza. We also got a greek salad to split between 3 people and ended up getting 2 orders because of how much we loved the dressing. Truly a gem, and my fav pizza spot in town!

First time visiting Cappy’s, and it was my first time eating a Chicago style pizza, probably because of my being a former New Yorker. I found the atmosphere to be inviting and the decor (old Chicago, New York mix) interesting. Our evening visit was during the week and there was only one other couple there upon our arrival. We were quickly seated by the hostess/waitress. We placed our order, a Greek salad and “The Cappy” a Chicago style deep dish pizza and two fountain drinks. Our waitress informed us the deep dish takes a few minutes extra, but said it was worth the wait. She went on to say only the owner knew the dough recipe, which lead me to believe this thing was going to be one heck of a pizza experience. We got our salad and drinks pretty quick. We were disappointed with the small portion of potatoe salad it had in it, and thought it was just okay, not the worst we’ve had but definitely not the best. We also thought the salad should have come with a garlic stick or two, like other pizza restaurants, but no biggy. As to “The Cappy”, I wasn’t impressed. The dough was a little sweeter tasting dough than I’m used to and the crust was more like pie crust. The sauce tasted like chunky tomato spaghetti sauce straight out of the can, nothing special. In fact, I bearely could taste the pepperoni, sausage and ham due to the amount of sauce. Since I have not had another Chicago pizza to compare to Cappy’s, I gave this place a three star rating for atmosphere and service. As I said, not having had a Chicago style pizza before, Cappy’s may be better than most. The prices at Cappy’s are competitive, our pie cost $20.50 with salad and drinks bill (before taxes and tip) was $33.00. I do plan to go back but next time I’ll try their New York style pizza and update my review....

Summary: Went on mothers day. This is where she wanted to go. Ordered two pies and a salad, totaling around 58 or so. Then someone in the family got sick with some stomach trouble about an hour or two later. Called the restaurant and then the owner, kindly informed him on the situation.

Service Experience: The guy was decent, though offered nothing but lipservice for a solid 5-10 minutes. No apology nor understanding of what the problem was, no comp/discount on the next purchase, just talking and talking, without doing. He was a jolly guy and enjoyable talker, but kind of set on doing not much to resolve it, knowingly or unknowingly.

Ingredients: Found out this place uses jarred/canned ingredients and low quality ingredients on some items across all five locations. Be aware of low quality, high margin ingredients when ordering. We go/order pick up all the time, and the pizza is usually 4/5, but when they ruin a standard holiday for no reason it requires a substantive note. Understandably the place was busy, though when you serve your customers getting them ill and then do nothing, its odd to say the least.

Next time: I’m one step away from alerting the food service inspector people, regarding their practices, among other things. This occurred despite the fact that the ownership / mgmt was present, ie. Jeff that day according to another mgr Bryan.

Request: Keep reasonable etiquette and standards! Fabrica downtown and New York, new york of tampa are better options for pizza from time to time. Lets see if things improve in the future.

Pizza lovers in tampa bay and riverview, stay vigilant! Suggestion tp mgmt: improve ingredients and delight customers every step of the way. Thanks for being receptive...
