I hardly ever leave a bad review bc I do take into account “bad days / things happen” . Most times even with not so good food , not everything is bad and the experience from staff is welcoming - unfortunately this is one of those times that I felt my money was wasted.
We wanted to treat my in-laws and friends of the family out to dinner . Our friends recommended this place , along with others in the past who stated the food was great. Growing up in tarpon springs, coupled with being Greek myself I was very disappointed in the food quality and service. I felt like everything was over priced, the food was sub par , and the service was not acceptable.
For starters , only being given two free small buckets of pita bread for a group of 7 (one being a 2yr old kid) seemed ridiculous. The fact that hummus has to be ordered as an appetizer (which is no big deal) being charged extra for each small bucket of pita bread was very shocking. Each bucket only had 4-5 small pieces of bread .
The Gyro that 3 of us ordered was un edible. The meat was super chewy , the Taziki sauce seemed very old and sour. Our waitress hardly got drinks right - the fries were ab the only thing that came out good. The Souvlaki my father in law ordered had very little to no seasoning. Part of the lettuce in the Greek salad was old with discoloring which all of our salads had going on.
With all this said , my bill was 260$ . Normally I would have returned my meal if by myself or just family - but due to the fact that 5 people were guest , I didn’t want to make a big ordeal . So in conclusion, between the food and lack of service , along with a bill of 260$ (meal and tip) I would not recommend this place to anyone.
You’re better off making the drive to Tarpon Springs and enjoying either Mr Souvlaki ,...
Read moreAs a long time Tampa Bay resident I have seen Acropolis Greek Taverna expand from the original Ybor City Location to numerous other locations. Speaking about the Ybor location the food is great and so is the atmosphere and it is a MUST GO-TO experience. With any expanding franchise it appears there are some growing pains and that is expected; until we speak about this Riverview location which is mediocre in all categories. I live in Brandon and have gone to this Riverview location many times from the opening year to the present (month ago) and have seen a gradual downward slide in everything to the point where it has been in a stagnant lull for quite some time. The last couple of years this Riverview location is always untidy with un professional wait staff and the food quality is not at the same level as the original Ybor location. I have been in a love / hate situation with me going to this Riverview location and dinning in and it was not good and then boycotting it for a few months to return thinking it has to better now only to be disappointed again. I'm trying to be fair and honest with this review as I love the other locations that I have also visited over the years. I see other reviews that seem fake and have high ratings and I know they are not eating at this Riverview location or dare I say some motivated reviewers are involved to pump up the stats for this location. I see some accurate reviews and I see the owners responded with generic pro business responses and if you truly know this location you know the low rated reviews are not just one off's. So in short go to the Ybor location or other locations and enjoy yourselves and management you need to fix this Riverview...

Food: The menu at Acropolis Greek is a tribute to traditional Greek cuisine. We started our meal with the Platter, which included a delightful assortment of tzatziki, hummus, dolmades, and freshly baked pita bread. Each dip was bursting with flavor, and the everything were perfectly seasoned.Stuffed mashroom was something unique.
For the main course, I opted for the, a classic Greek salad. It was a perfect balance of layers, veggies , and a creamy sauce that melted in my mouth.
Service: The service at restaurant was exceptional but little slow because of the rush they have. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring our glasses were never empty. The staff’s genuine hospitality made us feel like honored guests in a Greek home.
Drinks: The restaurant offers a diverse selection of Greek wines and spirits. We enjoyed a margaritas , a crisp and refreshing white wine that paired perfectly with our meal. For dessert, we indulged bakalawa cheesecake that was the perfect ending to a delightful evening.
Overall Experience: this restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. The authentic flavors, warm ambiance, and outstanding service made for an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you’re a fan of Greek cuisine or looking to try something new, this is...
