I’ve always loved Chili’s and usually have a great time here, but my most recent visit at the West Boca Chili’s was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had — all because of our server, Britney (remember that name).
I came with my friends to celebrate our first week of sophomore year. At the start of the meal, I specifically asked Britney if getting the larger cup with my kids’ meal would cost extra. She told me no, that it didn’t matter whether I got the big cup or the small cup, and that it wouldn’t be an upcharge. I’ve ordered kids’ meals plenty of times before and never had an issue, so I trusted her word.
Later on, my friends and I ordered desserts — just simple lava cakes — and it took 20 minutes for them to come out. When they finally did, mine had a huge hair tangled in the food with bits of food stuck to it. Disgusting. Britney comped it but didn’t bother to replace it, which was frustrating because I had been waiting all that time for nothing.
At the end, there was more confusion because Britney asked whose Sprite it was. Since she had told me my drink was included, I didn’t think it was mine. Turns out it was, and I obviously paid for it — I’m not the type of teen to skip out on a check.
But the absolute worst part was when I filled out the survey on the little kiosk. I marked that I was extremely unsatisfied because honestly, I was. Britney saw my response, came up behind me, and started arguing with me right there in front of everyone. She told me I was being disrespectful, that I was going to get her taken off the schedule, and basically guilt-tripped me for leaving an honest review. I’m 15 years old — she’s probably 25 or older — and I was just trying not to cry while apologizing, even though I wasn’t in the wrong.
I left feeling humiliated and extremely uncomfortable. I’m a loyal Chili’s fan and will keep going to Chili’s in general, but this experience at the West Boca location with Britney as the server was completely unacceptable. No customer, especially a teenager, should ever be confronted and argued with by their server for leaving an honest review after a...
Read moreI've finally mustered up the courage the write this review. After eight years of contemplating my life, I've found a reason to push on. Eight years ago today, I found myself sitting in one of your booths enjoying a delicious burger from your establishment. The food shocked my taste pallet; it was absolutely delicious! As I chewed the burger, I noticed two young boys walking in front of me and my wife. I thought nothing of it at first. It was, of course, just two boys walking by to their father's table. I didn't anticipate the trauma of this seemingly simple event. Finishing the burger, I looked up to see one of the boys step on the other's shoelace. I chuckled; oh, how that reminded me of my childhood days! The boy who's shoelace had been stepped on, instead of tripping, spun around rapidly. The other sat watching, laughing at his friend's goofy twirls. Yet, the laughs soon turned to cries. As the boy who spun came to an abrupt stop, I noticed his cheeks begin to expand; as if they were holding back the waters of Niagara. Within moments, chunks of Chili's classic chicken nuggets ran amongst the water liquid that is Chili's kids blueberry icee. As the chunks began hitting the floor and splashed that rancid juice across the floor, I took vomitted my food. Everything I loved, everything I cared about, was lost. The boy fell into his own sins and seemed to indulge in the goop. I was disgusted. Never again can I walk into a Chili's and enjoy it the way I once did; Chili's stripped me of my innocence. I'm sorry it had to...
Read moreAddendum: Looks to me like they upped their game since my last visit, so I had to revise the rating up. Good on you guys for fixing what was broken.
Addendum to addendum: Looks like I was wrong. Chili's is understaffed. Still a good lunch value but a terrible dining experience. Do not go here for lunch if you're on the clock. It took over 90 minutes to get out of there. The hostess wiped down the table and seat with a wet (not damp) without drying it. We had no napkins for half the meal. The waitress was friendly but really bad at taking care of us because of the staffing issues. She was hardly around. And the food had sat for awhile before we got it. It tasted just okay.
Here's the thing: I can see the staff is working their tails off. I was asking myself how I'd be faring in their place. This Chili's is like a movie you see as a teen that you really loved, but when you watch it again with family as an adult, the movie is dated and unsatisfying, and it's just nostalgia that's been bringing me back.
Poor Chili's. It used...
