I came here for my birthday and they, quite frankly, treated me and my family terribly. It was in the winter cold several months ago where we needed heatlamps to be warm, as we were all sat outside. First, they told us they did not have a heat lamp for us as all the functional ones were in use. Okay, no issue. We ordered our food, and my father, who is a vegetarian, asked if there was any meat in a certain dish, and was assured there was not. When the dish came, there was meat. When we asked about it, we were told an italian word on the menu, which is in all italian, clearly indicated meat. We told them we did not speak italian and that is why we asked if it contained meat. We were scoffed at. The night became worse, as when the heat lamps opened up one by one, noticeably they moved them to all the other tables with people of noticeably lighter complexion than us, even giving two heat lamps to one table, while my family and I sat in the cold with none. At no point in the entire night were we asked if we would like a heat lamp as we requested when we first sat down. The night got worse, as they gave us a free dessert for my birthday... Only it was not free. They charged us. We did not ask for this dessert. We did not ask for the birthday wishes. We just mentioned in passing that it was my birthday to the waitstaff, and they tried to charge us for it? When we told them to take it off, the manager begrudgingly did so, but when we quickly paid via the app and went to leave, we heard the manager ask to make sure we paid for our meals.
A terrible experience with...
Read moreThe good and the bad.
Starting with the good: food was very good. I thought that the dishes were delicious which included the mussels, tuna tartare was great, risotto and lamb chops were both very good.
The bad:
I ordered veal Parmesan for dinner which comes with a side of pasta. I asked if there is anyway they could substitute a pink sauce instead of marinara which the waiter said no problem. However when the bill came out they charged me an extra $5 for a different sauce on a side pasta. I don’t care about the money, but you should have let me know it was an up charge, which they never did. While waiting for the veal parm, the owner comes out and says they forget to take the veal out so it will take too long. I asked what she suggested and she said the veal or lamb chop if I wanted meat. I went with the veal chop and when the bill came out it was $50. I just think that being it was a mistake on their end and our other dish was being prepared already, you should have charged me the same price as the veal parm and not the cost of the veal chop. Lastly, we ordered a bottle of wine and the owner came over and she topped off my grandfather and his wife without asking. They weren’t drinking anymore and the rest of our $50 bottle went to waste. She should have asked and not assumed. I just think there were some bad etiquette moments by the owner that would make me not go back.
The least they could have done was treated to dessert being they didn’t have the...
Read moreUPDATE Since my last review the restaurant completely changed their menu, but the quality is still just as great. We had the best Eggplant Parmesan I've ever had, a great Octopus Carpaccio with Truffle Oil, served with delicious bread, and an amazing Tiramisu and a great Ricotta Cheese Cake for dessert.
I've eaten here a few times now and the food is really great. We've had the Avocado Toast, which is a huge portion, and delicious, the Tuna Tomato Panini Appetizer, which is practically big enough for a meal, and just really great, the Cervino Panini, which was fantastic, made with high quality prosciutto, and the Primavera Panini, also fantastic as well as the baked Butterfly Shrimp, which were great, and the Tuna Tartar, which I loved (so many places have this dish Asian style with soy sauce, but here it's an Italian version with olive oil and cristini. I can't wait to go back to get this again. We've also had the light and delectable gluten free Almond Pancakes, and the house made Ricotta Cheese Cake, which was really great, as well as, of course their house made ice cream. We've all had the Cappuccino Ice Cream with almonds and Ghirardelli Chocolate sauce (basically a Jamoca Almond Fudge Ice Cream) they just have one big size, so if you're not a big eater you might want to split it. It's worth it. Really great place in a...
