David's BBQ & Catering West — Restaurant in Florida

Way above and beyond! That is how I would describe our entire wedding catering/planning experience with Bobby and the entire crew at David’s BBQ & Catering. Our (first and only) tasting was at David’s and it was a great experience! From the minute we walked in, we were catered to like we had already hired them. Bobby sat us down at a table that was covered with an array of appetizer samples, dinnerware examples, menus, price sheets...essentially all of the information we were looking for. We sat down and began sampling their delicious appetizers while Bobby quickly got us drinks. When he returned, he went through a brief, and detailed powerpoint that showcased what David’s is all about when it comes to catering weddings. He highlighted the importance they place on customer service and how we, as the bride and groom, would have a server assigned to us throughout the night. We were impressed with everything! Once the presentation was finished, they served us a fantastic dinner that showcased most of the menu. The portion sizes easily filled us up and we were able to take home the leftovers. While we ate dinner, Bobby left us alone so we could privately discuss our impression thus far (spoiler: we were already blown away).

After finishing dinner, Bobby showed us the extensive and varied collection of decor items they had available for their clients. They had tons of items that we loved and ultimately ended up using, which saved us lots of money on decorations. Although it was our one and only tasting, we booked with David’s the very next day. During the planning process, Bobby always promptly responded to emails and texts (there were a lot) and made himself available on multiple occasions so that we could come to David’s with our coordinator to set up mock table arrangements and evaluate their decor items. He made many great table arrangements and decor-related suggestions that we would not have come up with without him.

Based on how the planning process went, we had sky-high expectations for our actual wedding day, and Bobby and his crew exceeded every one of them. They arrived early and had everything set up and ready to go in no time. As soon as our ceremony was over, the server assigned to take care of us had a tray with our specialty drinks and delicious appetizers ready for us so we could have a much needed drink and snack before family photos. As soon as the reception started, my wife and I each had a server assigned to us that brought us drinks and made sure we had plenty to eat (as promised). The food was incredible and both of our families were raving about how delicious it was, which is really impressive because there are a lot of food snobs on my side of the family. Not only was the quality of food fantastic, but the quantity of food they brought was even larger than we expected. Not a single person left our reception hungry. The service was excellent during dinner. They made sure to keep water glasses full during dinner so everyone could stay hydrated for all the dancing to come. They did a great job of quickly and discreetly cleaning up after dinner and transitioning to dessert. We got the funnel cake fries with the strawberry and chocolate dipping sauces, all of which were absolutely to die for. Most of our guests were getting down on the dance floor and did not notice that the funnel cake fries had been put out, so Bobby took it upon himself to bring around trays of the funnel cake fries to everyone on the dance floor to make sure everyone got to try them with both dipping sauces. We also got our bartender through David’s. There were a lot of drinkers in the crowd but the line at the bar always moved quickly and never got too long for our liking.

We could not have been happier with the quality of service, quality/quantity of food, and professionalism of Bobby and his entire crew from our tasting to our reception. I cannot rave enough about David's Catering. From the first communication I shared to discuss ideas with their catering specialist, Chris Shindle, to the follow-up communication he initiated after the wedding (when he didn't have to; it was such a pleasant and smooth process. Chris helped me with my timeline of events for the evening. They even assisted getting our purchased kegs to the venue for us, and arranged our bartenders who were a lot of fun and shared laughs with our guests. We were a very "DIY" wedding, and there were times I was close to seeking anxiety meds (lol), but Chris calmed me down each time, and came up with ways to help me succeed in my vision. They went over and beyond to even help me decorate our venue the day before the wedding! He added so much charm to our décor with his ideas on table placement, the lace & burlap on our reception tables, the bunting he himself did to miscellaneous fabric i.e. on our buffet table linens. They arranged our tables beautifully and instead of running around being stressed out while setting-up, we were all bonding and jamming out to music. I got many comments on how calm I was, and they were a huge factor as to why. Everything looked ten times better than what I even had in my head and that was due to Chris' ideas and input. I couldn't be more thankful for him! The day of our wedding was beautiful and we easily transitioned into an amazing reception. I received a lot of compliments following the wedding, on our food, especially the cocktail hour appetizers which consisted of mini shrimp and grit shooters and fried green tomatoes! Everyone also adored our crawfish boil entrée, and there were plenty of other options for non-seafood eaters. While most people forget the dishes served at a wedding, Chris really helped me create a charming and unique southern menu that I will always remember. To end the night, we were given leftovers already packaged up for us to easily take, and hugs from Chris and all of the wonderful, friendly and fun staff. We felt just as close to them as our friends and family that made up our guest list! Months later, I still think about that day, and it warms my heart that God blessed me with some amazing people to help make it perfect. We definitely made new friends with our very few vendors, and they've gained our business outside of catering because of it. I recently picked up breakfast for the office at David's and was very happy to see Chris waving at me from the back of the restaurant and asking me how things were going. Overall I would list the following about them: reasonable, willing to work with you and bring considerable ideas to the table, highly professional, the wait staff matched the same quality and friendliness that Chris portrayed, delicious food (they know what they're doing!), generous with their help, and very responsive. My wife and I booked David's to cater our 80-guest wedding and could not have been happier with our experience! Bobby is an experienced professional and he and his team provide everything you'd want from a caterer and more.

Bobby's team handled our buffet dinner, hors d'oeuvres for cocktail hour, table linens, centerpieces, flatware, signage, and our audio guestbook (made to look like an old rotary-dial phone). His team put significant work into setup and tear-down, passed the hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, and staffed the bar all night. They were all so nice and such a huge help - service was smooth and no guest had to wait long for drinks, dinner, or anything else.

The food was delicious and varied (way more options than the BBQ you may be familiar with from the restaurant). In addition to loving the food ourselves, we received many compliments from our guests about the quality and taste of everything served. We ate leftovers for weeks after the wedding and never grew tired of them.

Our tables and signage all looked beautiful. Bobby makes custom signs and maintains a surprisingly large stock of decorations and linens. We were literally able to pick from a showroom and try different centerpiece layouts until we found what we went with.

I already mentioned that the team was great, but Bobby himself is a machine. I don't think we ever waited a whole day to hear back from him, and it was not uncommon to receive a reply within minutes of sending an e-mail. We were not always sure what we wanted or needed during the planning process and Bobby always had recommendations backed up by his years of experience ready any time we asked. My favorite part of working with him were the little touches we never even thought of. For example, the moment we walked out from the ceremony we were greeted by one of his team who introduced herself as our "personal caterer" to ensure we had anything we wanted from cocktail hour as we hurried through photos!
