Fire Wok — Restaurant in Florida

My husband and I just returned from a 5 day carnival cruise. As you can imagine, we had a wide variety of meals to consume at our disposal 24 hours a day - and definitely indulged all week long. The one thing we both craved by day 4 was Chinese food. After debarkation, we drove to St. Augustine to celebrate our wedding anniversary just as we did in 2020 when we got married. I googled a few Chinese takeout spots, and came across 2 with rave reviews. I ultimately selected this one. We also needed to go to the grocery store to pick up a few things, and low and behold… Fire Wok was right beside PUBLIX!! PERFECT LOCATION! When I tell you this food is good, please know that it is GOOD good!! We ordered shrimp fried rice (added egg), 8 chicken wings, 4 shrimp egg rolls, and 2 large ice teas. The flavor was amazing, the chicken was fried to perfection (not too hard, not undercooked). The Eggrolls were golden brown with the perfect mixture of cabbage, celery, and shrimp! Been a customer here for a long time and ordered my meal and as soon as I got home noticed the food I ordered did not have any sauce on it like it was supposed to. I called the store and let them know that and they said they would make me a new meal, drove all the way back to retrieve the food again and I got there and this is where the mess happened. The manager was screaming at me in front of all customers accusing me of not liking her food and had no manners what so ever. Her daughter who was working with her had to come out and apologize that her mom was having a bad day. I did not have it because I would never treat my customers they way she has treated me and I've been coming here for a long time! When she finally made my food again she yelled at me from the door to come in and retrieve me food and made yet another scene in front of my daughter and even more customers this time and said she did it right this time, threw it in a bag viciously and almost slapped her daughter in front of everyone for trying to help. I am left in awe and upset from this experience and will never return here or recommend this place to anyone visiting...

I’ve been going to Fire Wok since I moved to St Augustine in 2020. This is the first place we tried when we were exhausted from moving and we never had to look anywhere else after that moment. We ADORE this place. We order from here about once a week. The husband and wife who own it are incredible people and the food they create is delicious. I come from NYC, and this is as close as it gets.

The portions are huge (what we order typically lasts us an entire week), the food is non-greasy (if you order non-fried items), the entrees, soups, dumplings etc all differ in spice slightly each time, because it is all homemade each day.

Fire Wok was one of the first experiences that made us begin to feel like home here. They’d actually call us if we didn’t order on a Sat night just to make sure we were ok!!!!
