Ok you’re going to want to bear with me on this.
We sit at the bar. It’s two of us. Bar has I’d say about 20 people, one bartender, young girl. She comes fast I get a water my buddy gets club soda (which was flat.) She’s moving non stop, she’s serving 20-25 people at the bar, plus she’s mixing drinks for every other server/waitress at the restaurant. She’s essentially hyper focused and can’t really stop on any one task for very long. She does however brings our drinks rather fast, recites the specials and off she goes.
My buddy and I are ready to order rather quickly, and since she’s busy, we do this thing where we extend our necks forward in a desperate attempt to make eye contact and order without having to be pushy by raising our hand. She walks by a few times and ignores us as she’s busy as heck, but eventually she gets to us and takes our orders.
I order the Burger Special, and buddy orders the BBQ chicken and off she goes. Immediately after, I take off to the bathroom to wash my hands as I sometimes eat burgers with my hand. Noticed the one single urinal is out of order.
When I returned from bathroom my buddy told me she had said I need to order a soda in order to qualify for the special. She didn’t say that while I ordered, I realize now it was because she didn’t have time. She didn’t have time to bring me a beverage at this time so she just got back whenever she could, which was when I went to the bathroom. So here I am again doing the extended neck dance hoping to catch her eye so that my beverage can arrive prior to my meal. (I didn’t know at the time our meals would take 25 min)
So finally get my drink. And 25 min later my burger came out. Some other lady came and dropped it off and left, then returned a few minutes later to ask if all is alright. I said “can I get onions” and she (looking perplexed) asked “well what kind of onions would you like, we have white onions, green onions, yellow onions, red onions” I said - “ the onions that come with the burger” - to what she responded with a snappy tone “we don’t serve onions with our burgers here, the only time we serve onions is if they’re requested “ to what I said “well I’m requesting onions now”
She turned around and brought me a slice of a white onion sitting in a puddle of water in a small plate.
All this time my buddy had went to the bathroom, when he returned and saw that his BBQ chicken had no BBQ anywhere. Did the extended neck dance but had no luck so raised his hand.
So the bartender girl, came over with raised eyebrows “what can I get you “
I ordered a BBQ chicken, where is the BBQ?
And she goes “I asked you if you wanted it grilled or blackened remember? “
My buddy
it doesn’t matter if I had asked for it blackened or grilled, I ordered a BBQ chicken,
then she went on as to how she was right and he was wrong with a combination of words that honestly, didn’t make sense.
My buddy finally says ok well get me a side of BBQ then.
she reaches three inches over and two finger grabs a container with a water down table version of BBQ.
Just being a total smart ass, the same smart ass attitude as the onion girls.
So here you go girls. A smart ass review to match your condescending attitude and sentiment towards your clients. Hope you have fun with...
Read moreI tried to come to this location to order takeout because they shut their online ordering down. When I walked in the restaurant, I was greeted by the host then she instructed me to go back where the takeout orders were being taken.
Side note: While I was waiting in the parking lot, I saw them turning people away, So I was expecting the place to be jammed packed but when I walked inside of the restaurant, it didn’t really seem that busy at all. There were a lot of open tables. So clearly, the staff here is just incompetent.
I waited for a few minutes at the takeout section. I was told by one of the other employees that the guy taking the orders around 7pm would be right back. When he finally came back to the takeout section, he informed me that he wouldn’t be allowed to take any more because the kitchen was backed up. Ok, Fine, no problem !
So I asked him very nicely before I walked off, how long would it be before they would be able to take more takeout orders. As soon as I asked him how long it would be, he started getting a little attitude and rolling his eyes for entirely no reason at all. Like I was bothering him.
So as I got ready to leave, I asked what was the name of the manager because I was just planning on calling, But then I decided to just wait and talk to her while I was there since he was being so rude. As I was waiting outside for the manager Belle to come, I had one of the Hispanic girls try to come out to the table (that another employee just told me that I could sit at ) and try to intimidate me and tell me that I couldn’t sit there because didn’t want me to wait for the manager. Anyhow, When the manager finally came out, and I explained to her what was going on, she could care less, and all she did was basically make excuses for the guy that was giving me an attitude by saying that he was probably frustrated. Well, I’m sorry if you can get that easily frustrated working a minimum wage job, then you definitely are not gonna be able to handle the Pressure of life. They need to get a better manager who can demonstrate better leadership and hire some friendly staff members. As soon as I walked in, even though the girl that greeted me was nice , they all just looked miserable. Honestly, I was glad that I didn’t end up getting any food here because the vibe in this place with the employees was just way off. I should’ve just followed my first mind and went to the location in West Palm Beach, where people actually have...
Read moreWe were seated at a high top table near the entrance. Our waitress was super sweet, in total we were 4 adults and 1 child. 2 of us proceeded to order mojitos. I know most waitresses will ask for an ID when there is a minor at the table or if they cannot differentiate someone age. These 2 people are well into their late 30’s. The first thing that came out of her mouth was “your ids need to be American it’s policy”. What the hell is an “American ID”? What was presented to her was a government issued ID from Mexico. Now I get it, how does she know it’s a real ID, how could she know if it’s a government issued ID. I get it! But her lack of judgment allowed an entire table to feel out of place, like we no longer belonged and we would be treated as outsiders. I explained to her that they are government issued ID and that it’s clear that they are OVER the drinking age!
We were not upset at the fact that she asked for ID, it’s just the way it was handled after. She proceeded to say she needed to check with supervisor and ask if this was a valid form of ID?!
I’m a Floridian and I couldn’t understand how these 2 grown adults who had a teenage kid would be considered under age. No one except this teen was underage. Her judgement was misguided! Her supervisor seemed like he was ready to go ask someone else!!! This honestly could have been an isolated situation. But I couldn’t fit in my brain why it even had to happen. We felt extremely uncomfortable at this point as they proceeded to wander about with these 2 IDs in hand. We asked for our checks which consisted of our cokes and we left. She began apologizing saying it was policy!
I’m not sure what kind of policy that is. No one was nasty, no was argued because I managed to keep my mouth shut, pay and keep walking. We had a child and did not want to alarm her as we are better than a bunch of ignorant people.
I wonder what they do to foreigners who come from other countries to eat here and have a drink!
I’m not saying any employee here did wrong, I just think it could have been handled differently, as it was obvious they were not underage and there was really no need to ID them. We headed over to Duffys and proceeded to have a great dinner with some drinks and no stupid questions. Flanigans you really did disappoint and this is just for some other immigrants to read and be aware of. So you won’t feel blindsided when they do...
