The Gun Club Cafe is not actually a gun club. The restaurant takes it's name from the road it is located on, Gun Club Road which was named for the Palm Beach Gun Club. The skeet shooting, clay target club formed in Palm Beach in 1911. From there it moved to Okeechobee Road and finally to Gun Club Road.
Although it does not look like much from the outside inside the Gun Club Cafe is decorated in a charming country motif. They are self described as an "American diner with a Southern flair". The whole restaurant was decked out in pink in celebration of breast cancer month. There was a display up front of items including a crochet bear and a bicycle that are being raffled off in support of breast cancer. Another decorating touch I liked were the historic photos of the area that were hung in all of the booths.
Service is super fast and friendly. In no time at all I found myself seated in a booth with both a seasonal and regular menu in front of me. For over 25 years they have been serving up large breakfasts, homemade soups and chili, and giant sandwiches. If you have room after your meal they have a delectable selection of pies to choose from. Nothing on the menu is more than $10. Diet to the wind I ordered a decadent cinnamon roll French toast with a side of hash browns. It was delicious and I finished every last bite.
I am so glad I found this cute place. Not only do they serve great food at reasonable prices but they are philanthropic too. No wonder it is so popular...
Read moreThis place has been around a long time.35 years or so? It's where the locals go. Ditch the chain restaurant and head on over there, you wont regret it. It has a comfy country vibe and serves really good food. they serve comfort food. The portions are great. there prices have gone up alittle but what hasen't? The biscuits and gravy are good. The salads as an entre are really good and big enough for 2. ( cucumber, onion, tomato and protein)can actually be seen and not hunted for. lol imagine that? These salads are NOT a few green leaves thrown a plate and drowned in dressing. If you order a side to go with it, you're all set . In the interest of keeping it real, If I had to pick something not good... the collards.( may have been turnip greens always get them confused) They were once spectacular! I mean ,really good. but now alas ... the flavor has left them so sad. This place it nearly always busy especially on Sun.but the wait time is pretty fast. I have never waited more than 15 min .(but usually under 5.) U can always call ahead to reduce your wait for a larger party. The servers are all sweet . This is a family run business. They will go out of the way to make you happy. a great place to take family and children. open from early morning till 2 or 3 depending on the day. you will be back. But don't tell too many people , got to keep the...
