Hooks Catch Seafood and Wings - N. Fort Myers — Restaurant in Florida

Based on previous yelp reviews we picked Hooks to get a fried fish sandwich. Obviously not for the ambience but everything else made up for eating in the parking lot of a strip mall. This is primarily a drive thru or walk up to get food "to go" establishment. But we are from out of town and were 30 minutes from our condo and we wanted our food to be hot. So we appreciated the outside covered picnic tables that allowed us to eat at the establishment. The young girl who waited on us was very sweet and told us about the the Sunday special, 10 wings, slaw and fries for $12. We opted though, for the large fried grouper basket that we split. It came with Cole slaw and french fries. It took about 10 minutes until our order was ready. It came wrapped in a "to go" container and packed with everything we needed, ketchup, tarter, fork, napkins. Fries and fish were piping hot and delicious. The best fish we have eaten on this trip. Tender, flaky and mild. It was just excellent. The fries were plentiful and the slaw was creamy and delicious as well. It was enough to feed us both. We did go back for dessert and had a piece of carrot cake that was ok. Not enough icing but good flavor. Excellent service and prices. If we lived here, we'd be regulars. I told the owner I would do a Yelp review which I did but he said Google reviews are helpful to his business. So, although it took we a couple of weeks I am sharing my Yelp...

Since just moving to the area, I didn't know there was this location, which is so close, and I don't have to drive downtown Ft. Myers.

I have previously dined at your larger establishment on MLK in Fort Myers.

The food was excellent; I ordered the number one combo, which included two pieces of fish and three chicken wings.

Also got the three-piece catfish dinner with fries. It was delicious .

The only issue was that the employee taking my order failed to give me a number like they usually do at the MLK location. So when my order was called, there were two numbers being called out at the same time, and I didn't have a number slip to verify my order. Small issue , so I'm not going to hold that against her . At the end of the day, she was very pleasant and professional. Overall, it's great food, and I'll be back

So if you're in the area of Pine Island...

Pros -good catfish, grouper, and shrimp -great mushrooms!!! Yummy -okra the best I've had down here besides my grandmother's -coleslaw is pretty good -crabcake is some of the best! Soo good. Doesn't have the filler of breading the way most places do. -They package the to-go very well. (though makes it difficult to check if everything is there)

Cons -red snapper a bit fishier (then again I usually prefer blackened vs fried) -sadly not the greatest hush puppies or corn nuggets -if your doing a large family check your bags. They don't refund you if they don't add it and you have to go back by the end of their shift to get the food vs writing name, so when your in the area you can grab. So I suggest doing multiple orders if you have 5+ people. They've done great when we've only done 3 people.

Over all their food is good enough to ignore the cons...
