Twistee Treat — Restaurant in Florida

The ice cream (soft serve) was good, but the owners (the only ones who run the place) are quite hostile. We expressed it was our first time there and were just curious why our bill didn’t seem to add up to the price they were trying to charge us, which was $11, and it should’ve came out to $9.43. All we got were 3 soft serve, small cones for $2.30 each, with each of us getting a .70 up charge for either 2 people with sprinkles, and the third person getting a flavor burst swirl. Also, a .24 each for 2 STYROFOAM cups (I know, funny.) My mom asked nicely why it came out to that, because we were confused and the owners went on a full rant that they were good people. For example, we were aggressively informed that his wife prays every morning, they give ice cream to homeless people, they never changed the prices for 20 years, etc. Had nothing to do with ice cream. They were getting very defensive explaining what they pay for all of their equipment & materials, saying they even didn’t charge us for one of the styrofoam cups, when they very clearly did. By the end of the rant they went on together, especially the husband, it felt as if they were attacking my mother who just asked a simple question to why her bill seemed incorrect. When it was time to receive the ice cream after they basically forced us to drop the issue, the man obnoxiously slapped his hand repeatedly on the counter to get us to be handed the ice cream, because he was losing patience. I have never felt so unwelcome at a business and it was only my first time. Won’t be going back, which is sad because the ice...

My favorite place! Everything here is cheap and delicious! Chili dog is $1.85! I actually tried the chili dog because the guy in front of me in line said they were his favorite in swfl... and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Chili dogs are only open til 5p. I've tried several ice creams as well as their shakes and it's all so good! If it's your first time, please know that the guy or lady working are usually working there by themselves and they only take one order at a time. They're not being rude when they close the window in your face, they're just making the order for the people ahead of you before coming back to you.

The nostalgia of this Twistee Treat is a treat in itself! I literally went to these all the time growing up when they were in different cities. Fun fact I learned: this is the first location that started it all! Besides the little bit of history, we also love the hard ice cream. For those saying it's high priced... have you not been to other "chain" shops?! We get two waffle cones, each with 2 scoops (mind you--hefty scoops... could easily be 3!) and sometimes even chocolate dipped and it's still about 6 bucks. Also, a little tip--pay with cash!
