I'm usually one to support local businesses, especially when it represents my cultural roots, but my experience at Island Grill was deeply disappointing. Firstly, the service was far from commendable. The lady at the front desk was not only abrupt but also downright rude. When I addressed a concern about my meal, I was met with hostility instead of understanding.
The food did not fare any better. The rice was both slippery and bland, lacking any trace of spices or salt to give it some life. Hoping for an easy solution, I politely asked if I could replace the rice with plantains. Not only did I not get a response, but I was also ignored, and when I persisted, she raised her voice at me. It was very uncalled for.
I believe every restaurant should prioritize two things: the quality of the food and the experience of the customer. Sadly, Island Grill failed on both counts during my visit.
