We decided to go over as an alternative to driving outside the resort to a different restaurant. My wife ordered a Cobb salad, which she said was very good, and the vegetables were chopped fine enough that she didn't have to spend the first 10 minutes cutting it all up. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, one of the 6 or 7 items on the dinner menu, and it was OK, nothing spectacular. The chicken was grilled a little too much for my liking, and therefore tough to cut near the edges, and it was topped with one piece of melted cheese and some thinly julienned vegetables including zucchini, red peppers, green peppers, carrots, and a few pieces of cooked onion, then what looked like Dijon mustard from a squeeze bottle in strings all over the top of the chicken and around the edge of the plate. All of this was laid on top of a bed of mashed potatoes. The ham was literally cold ham cubes, that looked burned on the edges, thrown on top of the entire meal. So, although the presentation was nice to look at, cold ham cubes are not what I was expecting from a resort caliber restaurant. The taste was good, although I cannot eat peppers, so picked them off to the side. The potatoes had good flavor and there was some garlic flavor throughout, and nothing was too salty, which I liked. There were no tablecloths, which surprised me, but they had cloth napkins. Unfortunately, there was a party going on in a closed off portion of the dining room which was not soundproofed, so we got to hear the thump thump of the music next door, combined with the music from the restaurant, so couldn't tell what song we were listening to, which we found somewhat annoying. And we had the all too often problem of a language barrier, trying to understand the waitress' version of English, which can be frustrating. So overall, we thought it was a decent meal, but the atmosphere and language barrier made it less than we had expected for a restaurant in a resort, where prices tend to be higher than elsewhere. We're hoping now that Hilton Grand Vacations has taken over the property, that these issues will be resolved, since Hilton supposedly has an excellent reputation, but they will need to prove it to us, since we are platinum members of the resort and watching very closely to see if things improve or devolve into what we've experienced at other Hilton locations. We're beginning to think it's time to get out of the timeshare world, and simply rent the rooms by the night like the rest of the world does, thereby avoiding our annual maintenance fees of over $14K, and not expecting...
Read moreWe have been to this restaurant several times during our stay in April and this time in May. Our recent experience didn't not meet the quality that we experience the other 3 times we have been. We arrive for breakfast and seat ourselves like the sign said. It took until my husband said something to someone before we had a server after we had been sitting for about 10 to 15 minutes. Once we were seated and ordered, the food was okay. However, my daughter asked for her omelet to have bacon, green pepper, tomatoes, and mushrooms. Well, because the server didn't write the order correctly after repeating my daughter's order to her. My daughter received green peppers, red peppers, tomatoes, and bacon. When we informed the server that my daughter's order was wrong and she asked for mushrooms as well. The lady said oh I'm sorry I didn't hear you but we can sauté some mushroom on the side for you. I'm sorry ma'am but this is not the same. Then once the check came 18% gratuity was automatically added to our check which had never been done before. When my husband asked why the lady said because we had a party of 6. Well, we are a family of 6. Our kids ages range from 14, 9, 7 and 3. I guess having baby number 4 automatically guarantees gratuity. The sad thing is if the gratuity wasn't added, we would given the server more than 20% tip. However, my husband decided then that this would be our last visit to this establishment and maybe Mystic Dunes...
Read moreDisappointed. The good. The Old School Cobb Salad was tasty. Sai, the server, worked with us. The poor. The French onion soup was very salty, compared to Disney Steakhouse 71, Shades of Green and Brown Derby. We also ordered Almond Crusted Salmon and Honey Bourbon Mahi. Issue was the same OVERCOOKED, not moist or flavorful. Our waitress said we should have asked for it to be cooked less! Yikes, what the… Fish should never be over cooked vis-à-vis well done! It was a sin what they did to the fish, both pieces. As for the accompaniment, veggies and rice, undercooked and no seasoning. Overall an expensive disappointment especially since we were vacationing at the Mystic Dunes and this was their flagship restaurant. Note: we did express our displeasure and two of the Soups were taken off the bill. As for the entree, no such accommodations were offered! Did I say disappointed? Sorry no pictures, perhaps it’s for the better! On the way out their pizza looked good and those customers were smiling. Remember play to their strengths, it certainly...
