This place is an utter joke. I went for my birthday with some of my girlfriends. One of my friends ordered oysters Rockefeller and she got raw oysters 15 mins after everyone had already finish their appetizers. The oyster Rockefeller didn’t come out for a solid 20 minutes after coming out incorrectly. Her lychee martini came without any alcohol as well. My friends daughter ordered coconut shrimp and fried rice. Her coconut shrimp came out fine but when it came time for entrees, her fried rice didn’t even make it to the table. When we pointed it out to the waitress, she immediately said “oh ok I make you chicken teriyaki really fast.” We only asked for the fried rice that we initially requested. Our waitress pretended to understand and Low and behold, she brought out chicken teriyaki 10 minutes later 🤦🏼‍♀️. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and it was not spicy AT ALL. The waitress offered to give me a side of jalapeño and I requested the spicy mayo. She looked confused so I let it go and said, “Nevermind.” Another friend of mine did not get the sushi roll that she ordered. Another friend of mine ordered a To go order for her husband. She ordered a spicy tuna roll and asked that they make sure it is spicy since mine obviously wasn’t. They put jalapeño on the side and charged her for it 🤦🏼‍♀️. When we asked to speak to a manager to express ALL of our concerns, she sent over another waitress who offered a free desert. She made the excuse that they were short staffed for the evening. I declined this offer because I’m sure whatever dessert I would have ordered would have come out wrong and it was my birthday so a complimentary desert is typically standard anyway. This was by far the worst dinning experience I’ve ever had and sadly it was on my birthday and nothing was done to resolve the many inconveniences of the evening. I would strongly advise against this place as there are many other sushi restaurants in the area that are way better. Not a single one of us had and order without error....

SUMMARY: HORRIBLE QUALITY FISH (NOT FRESH), OVERPRICED FOOD, POOR SERVICE, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

BEWARE! Hosted a party of 8 recently at this place. Very slow service and it was not even crowded. Horrible seafood (fish) dishes. As a well traveled fish loving family, red snapper @ $27/plate was not fresh (even though owner says only the sea bass is frozen). Really, I think we know fresh fish when we smell it, taste it, see it! Grilled chicken breast on chicken salad was terribly dry and hard on edges. Out of 8 dishes, 3 (two red snappers & one chicken breast salad) were sent back barely touched. Inexperienced server did not ask what the problem was when she took these plates away to clear the table. Did not want to make a complaint during the party in front of my guests as I was embarrassed about their meals, so I called first thing the next morning. No manager was on duty till 5pm that night. Called back at 5pm and spoke to a manager and she said she would get back to me after talking to owner about incident. Manager called back a day later (2 days after incident) and said Owner's reply to Manager was that her concern is that I should have addressed my issue that night and because I did not there is nothing she is willing to do as she can't see the evidence of bad food and there are people who have tried to rip her off. Seriously! We ordered appetizers, drinks, dinners, and dessert and she thinks we're trying to rip her off for 3 bad dinners! WTH!!! Talking about poor community relations and customer service. RUN AWAY before you get the same poor quality of food, terrible table service, and a horrible customer experience. Not recommending this place to anyone who travels through or visits Wellington. Just ate here for the first time in years and thought I’d leave an updated review. Just like last time I was here, all the food was delicious and I have no complaints in that regard. Seriously some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. I don’t drink, but all my friends who had drinks had no complaints (other than pricing but I’ll get to that).

The atmosphere here is also really nice. Every weekend they have a DJ and dance floor set up with music loudly playing. The bar is immaculate and the art on all the walls is eye catching. If you’re looking for something more quiet, you can eat outside where they have heat lamps set up if it gets chilly.

The service has slightly improved since I was last here. I remember complaining that it was slow for the price, and that’s only partially true now. Some dishes come fast while others seem to take almost an hour. For example, it took us only about 5 minutes to get the Kontiki Nachos (a must have appetizer) and about 30 minutes to get the Tuna Tower which we ordered when we got the nachos. I know I’m being picky but for how expensive everything is, I’m expecting everything to be top notch, including service.

That said, the pricing has gotten even worse. I understand that this is amazing food and you pay for what you get and inflation has been bad but almost $20 for a single hand roll just seems insane. The main dish signature rolls that are much bigger on the same menu cost less. I can go to other sushi places around and get that same hand roll for literally 6-7$ and it looks and tastes exactly the same.

Overall, this is a good place to go with friends (so long as everyone is willing to spend the money) and a great place to go with a date, as I noticed most people there were doing. Be wary of the service and pricing issues, and the food will ensure that your dinner here will be...
