My family and I decided to try a new Mexican restaurant to celebrate my birthday on Aug 8th, instead of going to our usual Mexican restaurant we went to Las Perlas and so glad we did. The service was attentive, friendly and fast. A little bit of a language barrier, but we understood one another well enough to get it done. The restaurant is very cute and both the decor and food felt and tasted authentic. I don't think they have A/C though. It was a bit warm and felt they ran on ceiling fans only. But was still tolerable. We were seated immediately and our waitress noticed I had a little bit of an issue with the loud music being played in our corner booth, the speaker was right above my head. I have brain cancer and very sensitive to sounds, she turned that speaker down without me having to ask. I was going to ask to be moved but she fixed the issue right away. I very much appreciated that. Chips and salsa was delivered to our table before we were even able to open the menu. The salsa is very good and ranges between mild and hot. My husband said the green one was the spiciest. Since moving here to Florida, we have been unable to find a place that serves authentic Chiles Rellenos the way we were taught in Texas. This place nails it and brought back childhood memories of a family friend making them at family gatherings. We ordered the Chiles Rellenos, of course, and I would gladly eat these every day for the rest of my life. So good! Taco Lengua, which was outstanding, and Sopes... I can't say enough about the Sopes, the absolute best Sopes I have ever had, simply amazing. We ordered Horchata for drinks, it was sweet and the spices were just right, and a la Catrina sweet wine. Both were very good. Sopapilla for dessert.. I've never had sopapillas made this way before, usually they're very light and puffy and we would squirt honey inside and top with cinnamon and sugar, these were fried flat and crispy and drizzle with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar .. still very good. Over all we were very satisfied with the restaurant, staff and the amazing food. We will definitely be going back and hope this business stays for a very long time. It's giving other restaurants a run for their money and it will be difficult to pick between our usual and this place in...

I figured I’d pay this place a visit after seeing the great reviews and was surprised to come across a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It was hard not to miss the little place even when I was looking for it with directions.
The place was loaded with people however and we were lucky to grab seats for 2. Staff was very busy that night, but service was still pretty good even so.
The customers don’t lie either, the food was amazing. We came here for the unique pizzabirria on the menu and were stunned by the flavor of the consome and the entirety of the quesabirria. They seem to use a different type of cheddar cheese that also gives the quesabirria a flavor that stands out from everywhere else i tried and has more character. Love it.
The tacos here are great too, especially the chorizo tacos. If you go here, you need to try one - they come loaded and the chorizo is amazing! I fully plan on coming back for it.
We also had complimentary chips with salsa and bought guacamole separately to use for dipping - It was great, however I do have to admit that the tortilla chips were stale. Really wished they were fresher/more consistent because the dips were amazing, but the tortilla chips being stale was off putting. If not for the stale chips, I’d give a perfect review.
Still, check the place out! They deserve all the business they can get being the best between here all the way down to Tampa.
EDIT: After receiving feedback from the owners very quickly about the experience (Great to hear), I gave the place another try the day after. As explained they were indeed very busy the night before so the issue with the chips was understandable, and they made sure to have everything freshly prepared this time around and correct the experience to the best of their ability, and of course — all the aforementioned food was still amazing! It’s...
Read moreSome of the best Mexican I’ve had in Florida! I’m so glad I finally decided to try Las Perlas.
And what makes the experience even better is how much the owner cares about his customers and the customer experience.
I don’t live in Port Richey but I made the drive and it was definitely worth it.
Food: Chicken chimichanga - absolutely delicious! I was thrown off at first thinking I got the wrong item because it looks like a little knapsack you would see on the back of a stick in those old cartoons ha ha but nope that’s it, that’s the chimichanga and it works! The sack fried tortilla is perfect, the chicken inside amazing and the thing that brings it all together, the Queso on top! The chimi was definitely the highlight of my experience!
The Taco Birria also very very good. I’ve had better consommé but overall the best Birria so far.
I highly recommend both of these items.
Chips and Queso, of course. Delicioso.
For Dessert was the Tres Leche cake. This is the only item I can’t get behind. Tres leche is layers and layers of delicious tres leche soaked cake with frosting. This one had a layer of a strawberry like jelly and whipped cream all over it. I wasn’t a fan.
Ambiance - I was only in there briefly but it had the perfect vibe for what you would expect from an authentic Mexican restaurant. A place where you can drink a beer and eat good food.
I will definitely be returning to Las Perlas Mexican Restaurant and highly recommend you...
