We pulled into the parking lot not sure what to expect but excited that a new Euro/Slavic Grocer was available. I have been blessed to get to know the food and drink because of my amazing wife and she was thrilled at a new place to find her favorite food items from Ukraine and elsewhere. It is a nice store front and though the sign is currently printed the owner informed me a new permanent lighted sign is coming soon!
As we walked in the first thing that struck me is how clean and warm the store feels. There are wonderful friendly reminders all around the store paying tribute the Armenia and Georgian culture that the two friendly and awesome owners countries of birth. On the back wall is an incredible wine selection from throughout the Eastern European world. The shelves are nicely stocked with a great selection of all varieties of goodies from jam, fruit spreads, mushrooms, spices, condiments, and so much I can't list them all! The cooler has a wonderful mix of fish and other tasty items that are begging you to take them home and feast. The freezer section is full of dumplings and other treats to tickle the tastebuds. Then there's the candy shelves and I'm sure for anyone from Eastern Europe it will take you back to your childhood at all the sweet treats that are stocked and made my mouth water as I perused them.
Then there's the checkout counter with refrigerated display cases on both sides! OMG! There are meats, cheeses, fish, and caviar I almost tripped over my wife to get to these and fill up our basket. That wasn't the most overwhelming and amazing thing though because to the right of the registers are the Slavic Cakes!!! So many to choose and all so mouthwateringly delicious looking I felt like a child again going into the ice cream shop and not knowing which flavor is the best! It almost broke my heart to have to only choose one to take home! The prices are very reasonable for a specialty Euro deli/grocery store. I've been to many of these stores over the years and it's not uncommon to walk out wondering what I just paid for. Instead I definitely not only got my money's worth but got more than my money's worth! The owners are wonderful people who make you feel welcome in their store, are quick to help if you are looking for something, and know their shelves from top to bottom. YOU DEFINITELY WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! Northern Pinellas has needed a Slavic European Market for quite some time and as luck and circumstances have it a wonderful Armenia/Georgian couple have answered our prayers with a great store with good prices and excellent selection! I am VERY happy to have Mimino Food Market in the neighborhood! WELCOME and I look forward to being back time and again for all those wonderful and tasty culinary delights...
