This place just opened not that long ago in the Carrollwood area and I’ve been wanting to try it. Finally went today and so glad we did. What a treat. Upon walking in you notice the open space and cleanliness. You order at the counter, give an animal name and your name (which they use to call you when your food is ready to pick up), pickup utensils from the food pickup counter and find a seat. Fountain drinks are self serve. When they call your name, you pickup your food and deliver to your table. When you are done eating, you clear your own table by taking and putting dirty dishes in the bins available.
We had the Ralphie (biscuits and gravy) — I ordered mine without the mushroom gravy, the Bluegrass Grits, and the Three Layer Cake with an over medium egg. Portions are huge.....but I ate every bite of the Ralphie!! This is the best sausage gravy and biscuits I’ve ever had! It does have a slight spice to it so if you’re not a spice person you may not want to get this. The biscuits are super soft bad flaky. The Bluegrass grits and Three Layer Cake were also very delicious.
Seating is limited so you may have to dine with other patrons. Took about 1 minutes for our food to be ready so time for us to stand and wait for a table. There are also tables outside under a covered patio.
The staff is all very friendly and attentive. They do walk around and ensure the patrons are happy. If you need a to go box they are also available. Portions are large.
Only complaints —- the plates are extremely hot when picking up from the food station and the limited seating.
You definitely won’t be disappointed coming here. It’s a definite must try. Be aware they are closed on Sundays and only open until 2pm M-Th and 3pm on F-Sat.
I can’t wait to go back next weekend and have a biscuit with their...
Read moreI like this place BUT....Management is terrible. Arrive at about 11:30 on Sunday morning. Place order. Get coffee cup, find a seat. ALL coffee carafes are empty. No forks or knives in silverware bin. This is a self serve eatery. I inform staff, twice, that there is no coffee. They said they will take care of it. 20 minutes later...still no coffee. Lots of unhappy people. Finally, coffee carafe are replaced, just as our food order is called out, just under 30 minutes since our arrival. Still no silverware. Staff offers plastic ware, which sucks, but better that eating with fingers. Silverware comes out about 1/2 way thru meal. That's about 45 minutes with no silverware. A commercial dishwasher will run a cycle in 3 minutes. The coffee and silverware issues are purely lack of management. As I said, this is a self-service eatery, so you dump your dirty dishes in a bin after you finish. During our entire stay, we never saw any staff wipe down a table. Nasty! I ordered the Retro with gravy and eggs over easy. Biscuits had small dollop of gravy. My over easy eggs were overcooked. Biscuits were still wonderful. Coffee, when you can get it, is delicious! Hash browns were perfect. I was shocked at how the staff didn't care that there was no coffee or silverware because I really like this place. As I prepared to write this review, I checked out a review from the previous day. No gravy on Saturday. A place whose menu is based around biscuits and gravy and coffee will accumulate a lot of negative reviews. Fortunately, there are a ton of good breakfast joints in the area, so I'll visit them and wait for the bad reviews of this...
Read moreWe ordered from Maple Street on door Dash this morning, and usually order frequently. Today we decided to try something new. It was two of the breakfast tacos and an order share size hash brown cakes.
Today...and not just today it was absolute trash. These…so called breakfast tacos (one steak with avocado added for $1.15 extra and one sausage) were something I would have expected from a dime store strip club breakfast after it had closed and all the food had been sitting out for a day and the reheated and sent out.
The tortillas fell apart, the avocado was mashed, brown and old! It was not sliced and fresh like we expected and shown in the pictures. The Sausage and steak was almost nonexistent, eggs…I know they’re expensive but 1 egg would have made enough for both and I don’t recall any eggs in either taco.
What was present you may ask? Was a bunch of potatoes as a filler, some watery old sour cream as a side that was on the verge of expiration, so called salsa, don’t worry I know it’s canned/ jarred generic salsa.
The hash brown cakes were burnt and came with dill ranch and a spicy ranch which the latter has been sent to us multiple times with varying spice/hotness.
The biscuits used to be good and homemade but they aren’t anymore. They’ve been so inconsistent lately that I had to write this review. After Multiple missing items, small portions with high prices and half assed food preparation, and now today’s debauchery, WE ARE DONE WITH MAPLE STREET!
Maybe the cooks are lazy and/or not getting paid enough, but the food is not what it used to be 6 months ago and we cannot support a restaurant that doesn’t give a shit about it’s customers or...
