Bella Mia has been open at least a year but I hadn't gone yet because there are many excellent restaurants in our area. Got there about 7:30 on a Saturday in a party of 4. It was pretty busy but we were seated right away. Once we were seated we chatted for about 10 minutes before realizing nobody had taken our drink order. Waited 5 more minutes still nothing so I looked for the manager and explained our wait. She sent someone to our table right away.
The server was pleasant enough but it must have been his first day. The manager came to the table, apologized and dessert was on the house for the wait. That is fine except we don't usually eat dessert. Anyway, we ordered a bottle of wine. When delivered it was clear the server didn't know what he was doing. Using the corkscrew the wrong way he broke the cork in half. I politely asked for the bottle and had no problem getting the cork out and showed him the right way. No biggy. (We watched him serving another table wine and even after I showed him how, he did the same thing again. Again the customer taking the bottle and opening it for him.)
He was very attentive but kept forgetting things and apologizing. Constantly referring to us as "guys" not very professional. Wrong wine glasses, didn't know how to serve or remove dishes, on and on. I don't blame him at all. The manager is responsible for training and making sure the staff is ready to wait on customers. She came back and apologized again saying they were busy and only had 3 servers. What? Why? Last I heard there are plenty of people looking for work.
Appetizers were delicious. We ordered a seafood platter variety with scallops, shrimp and tuna. Also a half dozen oysters which were nice and fresh and large. Food portions were excellent. 3 of us got the chef's special grouper in a white lemon sauce with capers which was just ok. Properly cooked and enjoyable but not as excellent as a $27 main dish should be.
The decor is the same as it was as the Mangrove Grill more or less which just being in the marina is nice.
The bill with tip was over $200 which is about right. I'll try Bella Mia again because it could have been just a off night....
Read moreTwo months ago my fiance and I walked into the establishment looking for a to go menu. We've had the food / entrees / dinners lunches etc before. However this evening we took out a take out menu. And finally decided tonight for delivery. First of all we wanted delivery roughly around 2 to 2:30 in the afternoon, second of all they don't start delivery till after 4 is what we were told over the phone. we ordered off the take out menu we took home with us the lobster ravioli and on this take out menu it says that it only cost $18. Right after I summoned the order my bank alerted me that I was charged over $50 for my dinner.. I called the establisent and they made me aware that recently they increased the price to $30 even. So on the take out menu I have it still has the old price and Im thinking I'm paying what's in my hand, when honestly I'm being charged $30. I spoke with Bruce the owner of the established and he apologized with no sympathy or sincerity in his apology about raising the price within a timeframe we never knew about. We kindly asked to be reimbursed for the price difference as a courtesy for the customer due to the circumstances but Bruce refused. And it's an establishment that we order from frequently but our orders tends to stay the same. And finally when we decide to switch it up and it went wrong for us. In conclusion I would have to say tonight's order and service by The Establishment will get a one from us and hope and pray that the ravioli has extra meat as Bruce the owner says it does.lobster ravioli isn't even on the new menu and it looks exactly the same as the old menu they really confused us and Bruce the owner did nothing about it they get a very poor service the only good service was the delivery driver God bless his soul. Thank God their food is great overall as always service was...
Read moreWent in for dinner on 1/27/18 for dinner with my wife & daughter. This was our first time eating here since they apparently changed ownership.I ordered the shrimp scampi advertised as a bowl of linguini with Jumbo shrimp in a scampi sauce. The meal included a house salad that comes with. The dozens of times I have eaten here at Bella Mia Pizza I was first served " garlic knots" brought to the table when the drink order was obtained. After taking our] order for food I then asked if they still brought garlic knots and our servers response was "yeah you guys should have gotten them already". A few minutes later the waitress brought our dinner salad as well as chicken wings which my daughter had ordered and it was specified these were to come out with the adult meals. Approx 1 minute later another server showed up with our dinners (even tho we had not even been able to pour the dressing on to our salads yet). My wife received her Alfredo pasta first and it was a large portion of linguine and she said it tasted great. I then received my shrimp scampi & pasta. The meal consisted a good size bowl of linguini and scampi sauce. On top of the Pasta were 8 shrimp they advertised as "Jumbo" however were more of the size of medium and not even large let alone jumbo. The shrimp also had the tail membrane (shell) still in tact, meaning in order to eat the shrimp you needed to put your hands into the Pasta and scampi sauce to peel the tails membrane shell off. The taste was ok however NOT the normal flavorful Bella Mia I was accustomed to eating for many years.I felt that for an almost $20 meal it should have been thought out better. Hopefully this one experience was just an anomaly because I usually love everything and I will give them another shot in the near future. I hope this review helps others...
