Paraiso Mexican Grille And Bar — Restaurant in Florida

I’ve hesitated on leaving a review for a couple visits now, but tonight solidified my decision to share my experience with this place.

I’ve eaten here at least 15 times in the past couple of years. While the atmosphere has always been lacking (no music or very hard to hear music in bar area, only one tv), the food was always delicious and service was great (attentive, fast). My last three visits have been downhill.

Service at the bar is terrible. The margaritas used to be really good, now they are pre-made and taste horrible. Perhaps it’s the mixer they are using, I don’t know but something has changed over the past year. I always get the wet burrito (shredded chicken) and the portion size is noticeably smaller (and of course the price has also increased 20% over the past year).

Tonight my husband and I arrived at 5pm and sat at a table in the bar area. We were greeted with chips and salsa, then our server took our drink order (non-alcoholic) and we ordered our food within the first five minutes (two wet burritos). About 15 minutes later, we were looking around for our server for a chip and salsa refill, but she was no where to be found. We flagged down another worker and they quickly got us a refill. The next time we saw our server we asked on the status of our food - at this point it had been 35 minutes since we ordered. She checked with the kitchen and returned to tell us it would be another 8-10 minutes. Had the server been upfront with us that it would take 45-50 minutes for our food order to arrive, we may have been more understanding. The place was not packed, there was no wait for a table. Typically we get our food within 15-20 minutes, so this exceptionally long wait without any communication from our server (until we asked what’s going on) is the reason we decided to leave.

Food is awesome and deserves 5 stars ! BUUUUUTT there is a serious on going problem with phone in orders. This has happened more than a handful of times where I cannot get through only to find out someone has not hung up the phone either at the bar or at the podium. TO THE MANAGEMENT this is an ONGOING issue that you are loosing revenue over. I am a long standing customer that enjoys your food and your staff is typically on the ball. Today they REALLY dropped it bad. I called to place an order and was asked to hold. After 10 min I finally hopped into my car. I arrived at the restaurant still on hold and walked in and stood at the podium for several min before I was greeted with "someone will be with you" from behind the bar. After another several min a couple walked in and stood next to me. A waitress appeared from the other room and said "party of three for lunch? I said no, I'm still on hold trying to place a lunch order. She hung up the phone at the podium, seated the people and then promptly went to the bar to make her order of drinks. Needless to say I left. Perhaps the young lady sitting at the computer in the kitchen area can lend a hand in answering phones during the busier part of lunch. I'm now sure you are loosing money on phone in orders because this loyal customer is going elsewhere for lunch. Although you serve great food, this subpar customer service left a really BAD taste!

UPDATE: decided to give these guys a try again. This time it was dine in with a friend. It was going great until I found a dead fly in my food. They took my meal off the bill. That was good but needless to say I lost my appetite for good at...

I really had to verify I was reviewing the same restaurant that others are giving 4/5 stars to. We went to dinner last night(5 people ages 17-58). Our food was NOT good. Three of us ordered carne asada and the other two ordered burrito asado. The steak was shriveled up and dried out.(the same steak must be used for both of these dishes) Could not even cut it with a knife. It literally looked like shoe leather. It was not edible at all. . Rice was dried out completely and tried to add salsa to it to try to eat. It was crunchy dry. They were not busy or short staffed so this is not the reason for the poor quality of food. We most definitely told the server explaining what was wrong with the meals but she offered no solution. No replacement, no substitution , or offer to take it off our bill. Not even an apology. We just wanted food that could be eaten. If it wasn’t for some chips and salsa (which we did enjoy) we would have left starving.One of the members of our party stopped at Burger King on the way home. Unfortunately this speaks volumes. I would not recommend the restaurant. Our first time and last time. Yes,...
