I really wish I could give a good review. For years, we have enjoyed dinners at Peter's and often shared our assertions that it rivaled the best steakhouses in our state. Unfortunately, our last two visits have changed our minds. The first, we chalked up to a fluke - something was just off that night. But, we recently went back and found it to be even more disappointing than the previous visit. Things were bad from start to finish. The bread was inedible. The garlic bread was so pungent that the one taste we took never left our mouths...and we love garlic. The other rolls were dry and hard. The herring was bitter. (Although, the house salad was excellent.) The steaks were not cooked to order, despite our very specific requests and, quite frankly, neither was the quality one would expect in an $80 steak. The hash browns we used to love were so overcooked they had the texture of gravel. The brussel sprouts were quite nice, though. The service was satisfactory, but not exceptional. We didn't recognize our waitress this last visit, so she may have been new. There is a long-time waitress on staff who has always provided exceptional service, knowledge and much-appreciated suggestions, but we did not have her the past two visits. In short, this was once one of our favorites. (Despite the lack of ambiance to match their fare.) We enjoyed having a quality steakhouse in our backyard. Perhaps, we just had the poor luck of catching two bad days with the cooks, but others have shared similar experiences in noticing a decline, as well. Should we start hearing that things have turned around to the way they once were, we will happily go back. But, for now, we will be traveling to the bigger cities when craving a fabulous steak dinner, as Peter's just isn't meeting our...
Read moreMy fiance and I are avid foodies, he is a head chef and we enjoy trying new restaurants. We were very excited to try this restaurant, we heard from a neighbor it was an excellent steak house. We left incredibly disappointed. We started with the crab cake appetizer as well as the caesar salad, both were good. We ordered the hash browns & asparagus, both were fine. We also ordered the 32oz rib eye to share and asked for it to be cooked medium well. We were sitting near the kitchen and heard the chef say to our waitress "will that be ok?" She said "no problem I will fudge it". At the time we didn't realize they were talking about our steak. The steak came out pre-sliced, rare inside and charred on the outside. Just the steak was $70, $5 upcharge for sharing which we had no complaint about, but the fact that a STEAK HOUSE sends out a steak like that is totally unacceptable especially with only 3 other patrons in the restaurant. We always take photos of our food adventures to share with our restaurant group, friends and family who follow us so we did not notice the steak was rare right away. By the time our waitress came back and we showed her the steak I was not interested in having a few slices thrown back in the oven to be cooked more, we were almost finished. They knew the steak was rare and sent it out anyway. We were not compensated what so ever for this HUGE error on the chef's part. Not even so much as a free dessert. Terrible customer service, we will not reccomend this...
Read moreWe had a Charity Dine coupon for Peter's Steakhouse. This restaurant is in an old house in Jensen Beach and is cute inside. We started with sparkling water and two glasses of wine. We also had a bottle of very good wine. My husband had escargot which was good but had nothing but garlic butter sauce on a small mushroom. I had a 4 large shrimp cocktail which was a little to watery for me but the shrimp were plump and and seemed good quality. We both ordered medium rare steaks with separate priced sides of hash brown potatoes for two and asparagus with hollandaise for two. My husband had bernaise on the side for $3.00. The steaks were two different sizes. We ordered 6 0z.steaks making his steak medium and mine medium rare. We switched steaks and made do. The bernaise and hollandaise were both frothy and not very tasteful. The hash browns were plentiful and the asparagus was a little late to the table. The dessert of strudel with ice cream and homemade whip cream was delicious. My husband enjoyed his coffee and I enjoyed my port. Our waitress was not very attentive. I don't know if it was because she was automatically given a 20% tip or if she was always that way. The owner was there and I told him about the steaks at the request of the waitress. He gave us the strudel free. We will not be back. Between the expense of the food and the mediocre food it just does not meet the standard we...
