I will not eat or order from this restaurant again. I ordered delivery from a friend’s house this evening. A part of the order was missing, so I called back to see about just having it refunded, because at this point it’s after 9pm and the kids are going to bed soon. Olivia gave me a lot of attitude, asked if I was the baby sitter, and informed me they could do a credit for this address or “go through the hassle” of a refund by having to re-ring the entire order (she clearly did not want to do this) or send the driver” all the way” to the house for a $6 refund In cash. Her attitude was very poor and angry, and I finally said ok, leave the credit for this address and she said fine and hung up on me. I’m all for supporting local, and I understand it’s Saturday night and things are busy, but it is not right to treat any customer, little less one with a nearly $90 order (before tip) this way. EDIT: then after I leave a review she stalks me on Facebook to email me and be ugly some more. Unbelievable.
Response: Olivia, you answered the phone when your associate transferred me because he didn’t know what to do- “what do you want?” You then proceeded to speak to me very rudely and made me feel as if I was a burden to your restaurant. You asked if I wanted the meal- it was after 9- so I declined. You asked if I wanted you to send a driver “all the way back” to the house for 6 bucks, and I said that wasn’t really worth the time, and why couldn’t it just be credited to my card. You wanted to credit the address for a future meal and when I told you I didn’t live there you rudely said “what are you, the babysitter?” You clearly didn’t want to re-ring the order (which I don’t understand why a refund for one item can’t be done? But I digress) 🤷‍♀️ so I gave up, gave in to you, and you said “fine” and hung up on me. I am co-owner of a business in town and I would never speak to a customer that way, especially if it was our error. I’m glad you’re friends with Kristy and Larry- they are both wonderful people. They also both own businesses and they would never speak to a...
Read moreWe had dinner at Romano’s Pizzeria and Restaurant this evening. I have always liked this restaurant but haven't been there in at least seven years...I'm definitely glad we stopped in.
We ordered the Sausage with Broccoli Rabe as well as Spaghetti and Meatballs. The dinners come with a choice of soup or salad and freshly baked rolls, (we both chose salads).
Shortly after placing our order the server advised me that they were out of Broccoli Rabe and suggested options of vegetables that I could substitute. I realized they make a Fra Diavolo sauce here and asked if I could hold off on the vegetable and substitute that in place of the garlic and olive sauce that normally comes with this dish. The server, (who was awesome), said it wouldn't be a problem at all.
The rolls came out first and were served with a balsamic and olive oil mixture. The rolls were warm and soft with a nice flaky exterior. The salads came out next and were nothing special, (lettuce, onion and tomatoe),but the homemade blue cheese dressing was tangy and delicious.
When our main courses arrived I was blown away by the Sausage with Fra Diavolo Sauce. I love spicy food and this sauce is normally somewhat bland at a lot of restaurants, (even though it's supposed to be spicy), but that isn't the case here. This sauce was actually spicy and was perfect with the sausage and pasta. I tried a bite of the meatball and spaghetti and it was delicious as well. I love a red sauce made with fennel and could taste it in this dish. The sauce also had a slight sweetness without going overboard. The meatballs were perfectly tender and plentiful.
I am always looking for new restaurants and often forget about some of the older and well established places. I need to stop doing that and visit again...that Fra Diavolo...
Read moreWe're making the rounds to find the best pizza in St Augustine and Romano's Pizza and Restaurant was next on our list. We only tried the pizza and the stromboli and antipasto for take away, not the restaurant, in this review.
Overall we enjoyed the meal. I thought the Grandma pizza knocked it out of the park, loved it. Crust was fairly crisp but the cheese, sauce, and spices were totally on point.
My daughter loved the pepperoni stromboli, thought it was the best one she'd ever had.
The antipasto was very good, but we've had better and that may just come down to personal taste. The house dressing was excellent.
Surprisingly, our son just didn't care for the sausage and pepperoni pizza. I did not try it myself but he wouldn't finish it, and he loves pizza. I wish I had a better explanation other than he's a typical moody thirteen year old boy. It did look good.
Staff were very friendly on the phone and at pickup.
Here's a tip - they will ask you if you are calling their specific location because there is another pizzeria with the same or similar name in the region, and people have mixed them up resulting in orders that were not picked up. It's not a big deal and they only do it with new customers (they must save your info in their system for future calls) so just be ready for it.
Tip # 2 - The restaurant is on the right, but the pizzeria is on the left. Go into the door in the far left. In between the two entrances is another door with a sign pointing to the right, where the restaurant is. But the restaurant doesn't open until evening so the door will be locked if you are there earlier in the day for pizza. Head left, and you'll quickly see the entrance.
We would order again for the Grandma and stromboli, and I'd like to try the Italian food in the restaurant, so we'll...
