My parents were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and a vow renewal this weekend. After seeing the gorgeous private dining room, the wonderful harbor views, and trying some of the amazing food, momma fell in love with Stretto. Our party ended up being about 30 people, and they knocked it out of the park.
Giovanni, Jorge, and Lou were tasked with providing service for our party and did a phenomenal job. Everybody was well-taken care of. Drinks were consistently served in a timely fashion, each course of the meal was served efficiently, and they happily accommodated any other guest requests and answered all questions. Fantastic service all around.
The food was simply incredible. Started with freshly toasted crostini and a house-made ricotta that was velvety smooth and bursting with flavor. Charcuterie boards were then brought out, with a wonderful variety of meats, cheeses, and fruits. Everything was fresh and delicious. It also included a portion of fresh, local honeycomb, something I've never had before. It was an interesting taste that paired very well with the fresh apricot. Guests then chose between a soup and salad. The roasted fennel and tomato soup was delicious and perfectly creamy. The salad had beautiful organic greens, fresh strawberry, more amazing ricotta, almonds, and a fig balsamic. Entrees consisted of a chicken gnocchi, angus tenderloin, or blue crab carbonara. I had the carbonara, which was, simply put, the most delicious plate I've had at a restaurant in a long time. It came with house-made pasta, English peas, crispy pancetta, heirloom tomato, and a poached duck egg. Everything about this dish was fresh and cooked to absolute perfection. Although I didn't personally try the other entrees, other guests raved about them as well. The tenderloin was served with grilled asparagus, an Italian sausage and potato hash, and a barolo jus. The chicken dish came with forest mushrooms, black truffle gnocchi, and a béchamel sauce. Based on guest comments, I want to go back to try those other two entrees. We finished with a gelato sampler that included scoops of chocolate, pistachio, and cappuccino gelato, and almond biscotti crumble. This actually brought me back to a gelato place right by the Trevi Fountain where I ended up a few times while visiting Rome several years back.
Absolute A+ all the way around. A big thanks to the service team, as well as Mary (the general manager), and Chef Taija and her kitchen team for putting this all together and helping make my parents' special weekend truly...

Read moreI was expecting a fancy Italian restaurant that would give Carmelo’s competition. We walked into a brightly lit atmosphere, extremely lit. We had reservations at 6, walked in at 5:50 and were told to sit at the bar as the table wasn’t ready. We were fine with that, but the hostess forgot about us. We returned to the hostess counter and were seated. If you get a martini, expect it to be short. I was told that they used the normal amount of liquor in the glass, but it’s just a big martini glass. I don’t agree with that logic. Don’t buy large martini glasses if you’re not going to fill them. In my opinion, the glasses were not excessively large. Our waitress was pleasant and did her job well. They played live music and it was a little too loud. Tables are seated right next to the music. It’s difficult to talk. We were disappointed with the food. We told the waitress that my husband has food allergies so we asked for anchovies on the side of our Caesar salad. The problem is we watched (the restaurant has windows so you can see into the kitchen) the chef place the anchovies on the salad plate with her hands (gloves were worn) and then pick up the Caesar salad with the same hand and placed it onto the plate, contaminating the salad. The portions of food are small, but I had expected that. One of the biggest of all issues was the excessive salt and lemon (or other citrus). The Caesar salad was too tart, even the garlic bread was tart. The chicken parmigiana and sausage pappardelle were too salty to enjoy. Suggestions: dim the lights, fill the drinks, and go easy on the salt and citrus. Overall, I felt it was a commercial fast food...
