My girlfriend and I came in for lunch today, both of us starving, but not familiar with the area and wanting to try something more local.
The presentation of this place is great. It's a lovely space that they make excellent use of.
I really enjoyed my chicken fried rice. The chefs there clearly understand that giant chunks of chicken in that dish disrupt how it should be eaten, so they chop it quite small. It's great. My only complaint was that this batch of rice was a little dehydrated or undercooked. And I do mean a little. It was noticeable, but did not make me not want to eat it. I probably wouldn't even mention it, but my girlfriend had some and also commented on it. It was still delicious, easily my favorite I've had in the whole county.
The reason this place didn't get five stars from me is how long it took for my girlfriend to receive her food. I eat slowly, so me getting my rice before her sushi is not the end of the world. But she noticed a sushi dish sitting waiting above the sushi bar, and there was only one other group of patrons at the time, and they'd already been served.
I didn't track how long it was (I was enjoying my rice), but I think it was a solid 10 minutes or more before that dish my girlfriend had been staring at made it to our table. Once she finally got to dig in, I asked how it was, and the response I got was, "it's okay."
So, the atmosphere is awesome, the rice is great. Personally, I think how a place cooks its most basic dishes (like chicken fried rice) says a lot about them, and they did an awesome job at it. But if I'd been on the other side of the table, watching my food just sit for that long, I'd have probably left feeling very sour about the experience.
I understand that we're all human, things happen, whatever. We were the only people in that establishment who still had food coming, and no one bothered to notice until our waitress arrived again.
I have a feeling I'll be back to get some more of that rice to go, but I doubt I'll end up eating inside again, which is a shame considering how nice it is in there.
I hate giving a place three stars like this, but I think...
Read moreSigh. I want to like this place more than I do. There are so few options for Asian food in Lee County, that when a new one is added my family is very excited. However, we have ordered twice from here and it’s been a less than stellar experience.
13.50$ for fried rice LOL. And it was salty and has no umami flavors or even steak in it! The pieces were minced meat and far and few in between.
11-12$ a basic roll and 20+ for anything that isn’t one fish and plain rice.
I am all for expensive food if it’s WORTH IT but it’s just not here unfortunately.
Their sushi isn’t awful it’s just not worth near the prices they put it at. I think they are truly trying to take advantage of the demographic in this area with those prices. I’m not from here so I have much more to compare it to, and yeah-this just ain’t it. Not gonna...
