Two stars is generous and because with a different director and actors, I'm hoping future productions are better than "Miracle on South Division Street" was. It reminded me of community theatre. Their literature says they're a professional arts organization, whatever that means. Note they don't say they're a professional theatre or a fully professional theatre. The latter would mean they pay all employees a living wage usually under union contracts. Nowhere in their program are any unions listed. Therefore the actors aren't Actors Equity members. It showed. The three younger actors had few credits, and most at not well known theatres. The woman playing the mother, also the director's wife and producing or managing director of the theatre (depending on which materials you're reading) stumbled on many lines in Act One even though it was weekend three of three weekends and one performance away from closing day. The actors playing the brother and older sister were so overblown they were caricatures, not characters. I assume from the general tone they were directed that way (by the artistic director, no less). Another sign of poorer quality: pushing for results. More's the pity. It was a good script. Let the words speak for themselves. No need to go over the top. The actor playing the younger sister was more restrained and therefore enjoyable. The ticket prices were reasonable ($35 & $50, a lot, lot less than Florida Rep or Gulfshore Playhouse), the set and lighting were good, the seats were comfortable, and viewing the stage was easy. They have some promising looking plays in their 22/23 season. I'll keep an eye on who's directing and hopefully who's in the shows and maybe give them...

It’s been 2-years since my last review of Players Circle. Since then, they have moved from North Fort Myers to McGregor. Close to some great restaurants. Summertime entertainment continues here. Danny Sinoff performs here in the summer and the in-season plays and musicals are really excellent. The passion of actors, staff and volunteers is a testament to the quality of the performances. It continues to be a great venue!
If you live in or near North Fort Myers, you certainly have seen the Shell Factory, but you may have missed Player’s Circle inside the complex.. It’s a playhouse with some stellar performance and has only been around since Covid. But on many a Monday night around 7pm, you can take in one of the best jazz pianists and crooners in southwest Florida; Danny Sinoff. He and his trio including Scott Smith on base and James Varnado on drums will be a very pleasant experience regardless of your musical tastes. I am not a great lover of jazz, but this is different! Music from the 40’s and 50’s like was sung by Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and others. Danny is an extraordinary talent....
Read moreWonderful performance by Danny Sinoff Trio. They are talented performers who enthusiastically share their music with their audience. So glad to see them again and will return to see them. Secondly, the food was outstanding. We shared the slider and shrimp appetizers. Both were yummy! Unfortunately, the service was terrible at the beginning of the night. We waited over thirty minutes for our first drink. That is unacceptable and not a way to successfully run a nightclub. It did I prove later in the night. Staff and management were not all wearing masks which was disappointing. And lastly, staff and management need to be more conscious of making negative comments about patrons while some are still present. We will definitely return because the music...
