The place is quaint and charming, which I really like. They have a lot of fresh made gourmet chocolates and fresh baked goods such as desserts and pastries (croissants, muffins, etc).
There is a cafe that serves sandwiches, soups and salads. I tried the soup, which was extremely lackluster. It was pretty flavorless. The sandwich I ordered though, a French dip was delicious even though the au jus was salty.
My mom had a greek salad that she enjoyed. She also tried the turkey sandwich that she took a bite of and pushed away saying it was dry. The potato salad that she got as a side dish was good and somewhat reminds me of one of Publix's potato salads. The fruit she got as her second side dish was good and seemed fresh.
The teas were hit and miss. We both really enjoy teas hot or cold. We got the black tea and the mint julep tea. The black tea was dull. The mint julep was simply okay. I really expected more flavor.
I would suggest expanding the tea options to include bubble and jelly teas.
The customer service was decent and the atmosphere is ace but I think the location will be a hindrance, which is unfortunate because the place really has potential. Hernando County absolutely needs more places like this instead of pop up chain eateries.
UPDATE we tried the different flavored truffles. You cant really taste the difference between most of the ones we tried. Given the option, I would rather have William Dean chocolates out of Hillsborough.
The deserts we tried were good though. I had the bayou bar, my husband had the mint bar and my mother had the coconut macaroon. Both the bayou bar and mint bar were good and I would purchase them again in a heartbeat. The macaroon on the otherhand was less desirable. I was told by a friend that the cookies are...
Read moreJust stopped by this place for the first time today. The staff was friendly and personable which is what you like to see in a small business. More of a restaurant than a candy shop, but they did have something candies available. I ordered a BLT with extra bacon fries and onion rings. The fries are the fresh cut ones and tasted fantastic. The BLT tasted good and had fresh ingredients although it didn't seem like I got extra bacon. The onion rings were the only thing that I didn't really care for. The prices were fair. They seem to have some good drink specials for those that like sangria and mimosas too. It is definitely worth checking out the spot for brunch someday. They're mostly open on the weekend during the week you need to call...
Read moreWeeki Wachee Candy Co. is wonderful! We've been here three time now this month and will continue to make regular stops. I've been waiting forever to have something like this local. So many options with chocolate candies, macroons, cookie and cheesecake bars, muffins, cakeballs, truffles, pralines, buns, etc. They also serve a diverse collection of coffees and teas. And it appears they have at least fifteen different ice cream flavors. And we stopped today to give their dine-in lunch a try. Italian sandwich, Reuben, asparagus and cheddar quiche, and a grilled cheese for the kid. All were good. Started with bacon cheese fries. Give this place a try and you'll be back again and again. I absolutely love that we can support such a...
