My friend and I love trying new places to eat in Naples and surrounding areas. This past Saturday, due to some recommendations from friends, we decided to try out Whisky Park. In my 41 years of life, I have never been to a restaurant and/or bar and felt unwelcome.
When we arrived we were greeted by security, him and I’m assuming the host were very nice and let us know we could seat ourselves. The restaurant seemed full but still had some empty seats. The bartender was also very nice and informed us, as well, that we could sit anywhere and our server would be with us shortly. So we did. And that’s when it all went down hill.
We sat down and noticed there were only two servers. So we were patient and expected to wait. There was a group of lady sitting right next to us at the same table. The server approached them and took they’re order. So we thought for sure she noticed my friend and I and would soon come to take our order. She passed by us several times. Not once acknowledging us. After several attempts to flag her down the many times she walked by. She refused to even make eye contact with us. After several minutes a couple walked in and sat at a high top directly behind my friend and I. At the same time I got up and moved to the other side of the table hoping that maybe I would be in better view for the servers. It took the server less than a couple minutes to approach the couple that had just sat down behind us. The server took they’re order, brought them they’re drinks. Checked on the ladies beside us and never approached us. All the while we’re still trying to flag her down.
My friend and I then thought maybe we could get the attention of the other server. And she too passed by us, at one point so close that my friend was almost able to touch her arm. But nothing worked. We quickly felt unwanted, awkward and out of place. After about 30 min of waiting and not being acknowledged or seen. We looked up somewhere else to go and we left.
I am highly disappointed that in 2024. People that look like my friend and I can walk into a restaurant or bar and be treated as if we didn’t belong.
I can’t give a review on the food or drinks because non was ever offered. Needless to say, we will not be back. Whiskey park, please do better. We deserved to be served just as much as...
Read moreHad a very poor experience tonight and for numerous reasons. Let's start with the food.
Pretzel was good, no issues there. Yard bird burger is listed as handmade chicken patty but tasted more like a turkey burger than chicken. Took two bites before it fell apart completely. Not that it tasted particularly good to begin with. I was not the only person in my party disappointed with the food.
Next, the service was infrequent at the best of times. We were served drinks and appetizers, and a second set of appetizer plates that went unused across 45 minutes before dinner orders were taken. Why the appetizers and dinner orders weren't taken at once is beyond me. My meal was also skipped entirely which while annoying, was handled respectfully. Asking the waitstaff for anything was impossible. If you asked seven times, you'd be lucky to get what you wanted.
Easily the worst part was the music. The Irish Happy Hour was horrible. The singer played very loudly, the speakers of course being directly next to our tables, to the point covering ears was a necessity. We asked several employees, managers, and even the performer himself to turn it down and we got runaround answers (the singer said the speakers only had one volume which was a lie). Also, every time we asked someone to turn the volume down, it got louder. Clocked in at over 90 decibels (we measured), which is equivalent to an alarm and highly dangerous after a half hour of exposure (we were there about two hours with it going nonstop). People in his vicinity fled the area if not leaving entirely. Most perceptive musicians (or at the very least, ones who aren't complete toilet bowl stains) would take note of this and adjust accordingly. Not him. I would have done the same had I not already ordered (again, before I knew I would be watching everyone else at my table be served).
To summarize, if Whiskey Park's goal is an attempt to recreate Hell for mortals to experience before they die, they succeeded. If the goal is food, service, music, and a good time, don't bother. If you value either your ear drums or your...
Read moreIf you enjoyed the old Captain's Cabin, you'll like Whiskey Park. Used to go to Captain's Cabin after work when I worked further down Airport Road. The new Whiskey Park is an upgrade. Friendly, efficient staff early on a Friday night (before the band set up). In fact, our food was out to our table so fast that we couldn't believe it. Table had the fried green tomatoes, the brisket platter, and the Saint burger with the cajun parm fries (for an extra $1.50) and a brownie dessert. A place like this really needs a shrimp and grits on the menu. These are the thickest fried green tomatoes I've ever seen in my life. They're delicious, but would like to see them just a little thinner than what they are. Nice remoulade to accompany, but sometimes, it tasted like we bit straight into a peppercorn. Brisket platter is odd in that it's served on wood plates on top of the platter. Had cole slaw and mashed potatoes as the side. Excellent cole slaw. Not sloggy like some other places. Burger on a brioche; the meat seems too small for the bun. Definitely a good choice on the cajun parm fries, but I think perhaps an extra dollar is more appropriate than the $1.50 upcharge for those fries. Tamara (I think) was server. So sweet, very knowledgeable about the menu. There's a jukebox there that was playing 80s hair band music until the band set up. Pool tables still there like the old Captain's Cabin. Good selection of drinks. Would be interested in seeing what they do here on...
