My husband and I had just gotten back in town after a long weekend and needed to eat. Because Bari's is close to where we live, we decided to try it...we had never been there. I want to point out that we are Italian food lovers and connoisseurs, we have had some AMAZING and truly delicious and unique Italian food AND we have had some truly awful Italian food and everywhere in between. We would rate the quality of the food at Bari's somewhere in the middle...good, but definitely not to die for. I WOULD have rated this establishment a little higher if the service was better. Our server...I don't really know his name, but on our bill it is Seni Z (he never introduced himself), interrupted me twice while I was ordering...two separate times...like he either didn't have time to listen or what I was saying was not important. He did not check on us during our meal and really acted like he had much better things to do than serve us...which he probably did, but at that moment, he was getting paid to do a job. He had the personality of a rock...and his actions directly negatively affected our enjoyment of our meal. The atmosphere was comfortable, but the acoustics are not good and the lack of patrons allowed conversations in the bar to be heard in the far back corner of the restaurant where we were sitting. Also, the music was some sort of alternative 90s, which wasn't bad, but not the type of music that creates that Italian ambiance you would expect. All in all, it wasn't completely awful, but with so many much better Italian food restaurants in the Dallas area, why settle for one where service is delivered by someone that acts like they have better...
Read moreThe food was great but service and atmosphere left a lot to be desired. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and not once did anyone refill our water glasses. We were not asked if we wanted more wine or drinks. When we got our orders taken it was very rushed. We were not even asked what kind of pasta we wanted. We were not offered any salads or sides. We did ask for salad and it was pretty good. When I go out to eat, its not just about the food-its about the entire experience-good servers recommending dishes, trying new menu items, enjoyable music, clean dining area etc. As for the food; I recommend the house dressing- it’s very tasty. Sort of reminds me of Dorothy Lynch I really think the food is delicious overall. The veal is tender and flavorful. The sauces are very good as well. However the restaurant is very, very echoey. When you hear chairs scooting around it’s very loud. They do have booths that seem a bit more private. The atmosphere is relaxed. The music was 90s alternative all evening. Nothing against 90s alternative…It just didn’t really seem to jive with an Italian restaurant. Wanted to try tiramisu but they were out. Chocolate cake was pretty good. Garlic rolls were served in the beginning with plastic packets of butter. Later rosemary olive oil was brought out for dipping. I want to like this place- as I said, the food was good…just wish the ambience was better. Would maybe try again...
Read moreAs a former worker, I can confirm that all of the reviews complaining of bad service are true. The waiters & owner(s) talked badly about all of the customers. They do not care one bit about you. I remember seating a party of eight and discovering that their little boy was turning 7. I wished him a wonderful birthday and upon informing the table's waitress, she said "I could care less, the mom is a B**". Additionally, the "authentic" food served here is bogus. The owners are Albanian, and chose to serve Italian food because it is easy to get right. Furthermore, this restaurant is VERY unsanitary. The menus are "supposed" to be cleaned once a day but I can personally guarantee you they wont be. And when cleaning tables after customers have left, I was told to just swipe all of the dirty food onto the floor. Lastly, the owners themselves are, in my opinion, bad people. They pay the people making your food "under the table", and make the waiters/ waitresses give some of their tips so that the owners don't have to pay their cooks as much. I personally was also payed under the table, which by the way, is illegal. So if you're looking for non authentic food made by non authentic people served on dirty tables by waiters/waitresses that practically despise you, then come on down to Baris pizza and pasta. This place doesn't deserve the minimum one star I...
