Texas Star Café - Flower Mound
Nestled in heart of Flower Mound, near Yummy Thai and Chili’s, off Long Prairie Road.
Family owned, Breakfast and Lunch Café, they treat you like family and make sure everything is cooked to order.
I’ve been coming here with my family for over two years and each time, breakfast tastes consistently better. They offer much larger portions than the near by competitors.
One of my favorites I order is “Harvest Omelette,” - three eggs stuffed with chicken, spinach, tomatoes, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions and three blend cheese. The omelette is always fluffy and you can choose between regular eggs or egg whites.
However, I decided to order something completely new to see if the ingredients and flavors would be consistent from what I normally order. I was not disappointed, yet again.
I ordered “Veggie Breakfast Skillet,” - Biscuit and Gravy covered with hash browns, three sunny side up eggs, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, mushrooms, potatoes and mixed cheese. It’s as if my mouth was having a breakfast party. The portion was large that I couldn’t finish everything.
My brother ordered, “3 Meat Skillet” - Biscuit and Gravy covered with hash browns, three scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham and mix cheese.
My sister-in-law ordered, “3 Meat Skillet” - Biscuit and Gravy covered with hash browns, avocado, bacon, sausage, ham and mix cheese.
My dad order “Classic Breakfast,” - eggs, bacon and fruit bowl.
Everything was delicious and atmosphere was welcoming full of family hospitality. Aaron was our waiter and he did excellent job. Next time you stop by here, ask for him or any other great staff members.

Read moreMeh. In a town full of breakfast shops, this place doesn't rate. Speed of service reminded me of the not so long gone Le Peep. Although in true French fashion, the food was often good enough to wait for. Breakfast shouldn't take this long to be delivered after the order. I appreciate it was busy, but it was slow. Waitresses could have been more attentive. I shouldn't have to look high and look to get my coffee topped off. Food was average. Too much cheese in the omelette. Variety of sides was better than at most places but upcharges for a biscuit was a bit odd. GF said the pancakes tasted funny. I thought they were fine. Cinnamon roll is a word I guess you could use to describe it. Beyond that it was about as bad a cinnamon roll I have ever had. It was literally a bun with some cinnamon in it and an awful cream cheese frosting on top. If you must go, avoid this at all costs. (Looking back at other reviews, I see what I consider to be a mouth watering looking Cinnamon Roll. The one I was served looked nothing like that!!!) I'm always willing to give a new place a try and the ratings looked good here and on FMC. I beg to differ. When it comes to speed and quality, Snooty Pig in Highland Village is still the king. We would have walked out of the Pig haven already eaten by the time our food had been served here. Closer by, My Cafe definitely holds its own alongside the Pig. All things considered, I really wasn't impressed with anything to make me want to come back. Ratings...
Read moreI had seen very positive comments about Texas Star Cafe on Nextdoor and decided my husband and I should try it. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. She provided excellent service to go with an excellent meal.
I had seen comments about the large portion sizes and went in with the idea there might be left overs for the next day. The portion sizes are quite large. My husband order the country skillet and had enough for two meals. I ordered an omelet with two sides of fresh fruit. One of the fresh fruits went home. We also split a pumpkin spice pancake, which was amazing. We liked the pancake so well we took one home for our kids to split. They also loved it.
The food was excellent. The fresh fruit was truly fresh, sweet, and generously portioned. The salas was great. Not spicy, but also not bland. My husband was equally pleased with his meal. My only suggestion would be to not put the container of whipped cream for the pancake in the same box as the pancake. My kids were very confused as to why there was a container of milk included. :-D
We were very pleased with our visit to Texas Star Cafe and will definitely be going back again. With a huge selection, it will take several visits for me to try all the things I'll...
