AMAZING dinner @ang and eddies. Oh my goodness. This family has thier culinary techniques together. We ordered a smorgasbord from them. Two Gyros. Yum! The zihty sauce.....you wanted to slather it on your yourself it was good. So thick and creamy. The most amazing amount of garlic. The cucumber ratio was devine! So many onions and tomatoes. We got cheesy garlic bread and red sauce. My my goodness.....shhhhhhh don't tell my mom but their red sauce was better than hers and thats not possible! My family loves flavor and spices. Our food is NEVER bland. To say this red sauce packs flavor is an understatement. AND THAN! our Chicago style Italian beef. If you just scrunched your face thought to yourself quesionably "Chicago style" you have not lived or tasted an Italian beef. The TOASTED, Buttered bread, the insane amount of beef on the sandwich not to mention the intense flavor of that beef topped with the perfect amount of peppers hot and sweet to give the perfect heat that burns your lips but not your mouth. OH MY GOODNESS! Me and my mother we in food and nostalgia paradise that night. Our family has standards. For one we live and cherish food. We dont just eat it, we experience it. We come from the Chicago, Illinois areas. We know good greek and Italian and this food not only delivered but exceeded all expectations. I want to make two hour drive back...
Read moreWas visiting FDL for St Patrick's Day parade and Google Map searched a place to get dinner to take bay to the hotel. The reviews had me. Asked the girl working the counter what was good, their specialty. She said gyros. I ordered a gyro. She asked if I wanted feta for extra $$, and I said yes. While I was waiting for my order another girl was eating in the kitchen which is a big heath dept violation - what was shocking was the owner was standing right there! My order came out and the Styrofoam box was so light that I checked in the car that it wasn't empty. It was the worst gyro that I've ever had - I'm from Milwaukee and gyros are king there. The meat was dried out and there was maybe 2 oz of meat. I got one roma tomato slice and five small squares of onion (gyros ALWAYS have sliced onion). No feta in sight even though I paid extra for it. Didn't finish it and went to Tucker's Burgers at the suggestion of the hotel and had a topper burger and seasoned fries for less than this gyro cost. I gave 3 stars for the automosphere because the place was clean. Save your money and go...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem, wish I would've known about it sooner. Had the Italian beef appetizer, whew, so full of flavor & spicy, just like they should be. They asked if I wanted the juice on the side, half dipped or full dipped, just like in Chicago! And the same with the hot giardiniera, delish!
Then we ordered a large Chicago style deep dish & let me tell you it's too die for! The cheese is so gooey, the crust so nice & toasty & that sauce, I just wanted to drink some right out of a glass! Chicago pizza only 15 minutes away, loved it.
The staff was great as well, our waitress was super friendly & helpful. And Eddie came out to say hi, got to chit chat & here about him & his wife's story of the restaurant & how he got there. It was so nice & cozy being there, just a great comfortable atmosphere I highly recommend, if not just walk in for the smell, that in itself it...
