Gilles Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Fond du Lac

I’ve been coming to gillies since I was a child and never had an issue until recently when one of their waitresses decided to write a bad review against my buisness, lying and degrading my service. So now when I come to gillies I’m purposely ignored and not just by this specific blonde waitress it was by every waitress and no one black is employed here ever nor works here and considering everyone deliberately ignored me and my kids when our lights were on windows were down and we were here before 5 other cars that were serviced before us, I’m going to jump to this is a racial issue with gillies or a disgusting petty gross issue where it’s affected my children. Not professional by no means when I’ve never done anything to these staff members or hurt them or discriminated against any of them. My kids noticed we were being ignored as well and to have to wail on my horn to get someone to even come to my car is absolutely embarrassing and not okay. Nobody wants to be that person. What kind of distrusting crude petty waitresses do you have working here. So ugly and unprofessional especially the blonde one. Good example to set for the future kids around you gillies way to go. And yes my lights were on and yes two or more waitresses came walking towards my car and changed directions to different cars that pulled in AFTER us, And yes I tip my waitress tremendously every time. To wail on my horn and then get a waitress is CRAZY. Crazy fond du lac for you never in so damn long have I had to deal with such embarrassment, discrimination and rudeness from a family dine in especially this one. What a joke. I’m new to the area and found this place by accident. I like finding and supporting local non chain restaurants. I’ll start by saying the staff and service were great; super friendly and fast! I didn’t think the initial $5 for a double cheeseburger and $1.25 to add bacon was to bad… however when I got my total bill after the other add on ingredients and large fry I was a bit shocked! Just under $13 for a burger and fry with no drink?! I wasn’t given a receipt so I don’t know what I was actually charged for. The to-go bag was so light I looked to see if all my food was there. More disappointment when I got home to eat it. Small portion for the cost, Burger was very basic and bland; really no taste at all. The fries were really good but the portion was small for a Large order. I’d hate to see what a small order looks like. I really was hoping for so much more and really wanted to like the place. I’d have to say that A&W and Culver’s, would be the closest comparable places as for price of meal -they’re both actually cheaper after the add on costs for additional ingredients at Gilles- but by far better places to eat for taste and portion. Staff is SO friendly, drive up is fun to experience and sitting at a table is also cool when the weather is nice! Tip well! Because these ladies are out and about in the sun on VERY hot days, or buy them a water ($2.00) for them to drink when they can! Beware of wasps/hornets in the summer/spring though, that good food drives them to you!

The root beer shake is AMAZING and their cheese curds are better than Culver's (admittedly a little oily). I have plans to try their grasshopper shake next!

My only ick is the gilledog, they use their sloppy Joe meat for it and it's lacking. The hotdog alone is great! The issue is that they order the hotdog as so: bun/sloppy Joe meat/hotdog/ kraft cheese

Ideally it would go bun, hotdog, sloppy Joe(or chilli), shredded cheese

The sloppy Joe meat in the hotdog taste bland, it has some onion and some bell pepper but it's just not enough flavor to mix with the hotdog (hot dogs I believe are beef, not pork)
