La Chapina Bakery — Restaurant in Forest Park

Great atmosphere and service. The people are so nice that they deserve five star themselves . I eat at the restaurant next-door to this place so I decided to stop in to the bakery. I like the bread display glass case as you can see the options clearly and works well in the space, wish it was more air tight. I am a cake and soft dessert eater. I saw plenty of dry bread style options with some cakes. I wasn’t looking for actual bread or bread with a little sugar on it to call it a dessert. Neither was I looking for heavy milk options in which it seems they have, even options soaked in milk. The tress leches was OK, wasn’t as sweet-wanted more rel peaches and less milk. This dessert worked my stomach to shambles instantly. Sure, desserts have dairy, but not all are sitting in milk or heavy dairy forward. The cakes weren’t your traditional cakes as some of these had gelatin on them and others you wouldn’t know what kind of cake it is unless you asked. I wish the peach and strawberry bread had more filling. I knew it wasn’t going to have that much filling, but they said it was delicious so I tried it because I was looking for a softer dessert other than the bread options and the unfamiliar cake options they had. It was mostly bread. If you want bread, they have bread. If milk and dairy don’t bother you then I’m sure you could eat one of those cakes. There wouldn’t be anything I could order here, but I do appreciate kind people with great service doing good work. As long as the people love...

Customer Service is amazing! I can't express that enough. The owner took his time and explained the assortment of pastries/food. He pointed out the bread that had just come out of the oven as I was picking the pastries. They also sell Iced/Hot Coffee, Tortas & Tamales. Pastries were soft and delicious. Definitely going back for the Ice coffee. They also had beautiful cakes and slices of chocoflan/jello. A wonderful...

I came for the tamales, and they did not disappoint. I only wish there was a little more meat, which is the case with most tamales. Overall, these are the best chicken tamales that I have been able to find in the metro area since I relocated here 20 yrs ago...I will be back. Maybe next time I'll even...
