Magnolia Lounge — Restaurant in Forest Park

A great time was had! I found out about this place listening to a southern soul mix on YouTube by DJ Mr. Melvin. I had to come check it out. Being from Mississippi and being a drummer...I fell in love with blues and southern soul in my early 20's. There isn't much of it here in Atlanta...but I found out about this spot and had to try it out. I didn't eat...so I can't comment about the food...but the menu had decent selections. I was the first patron there and was greeted personally by the owner. He was very personable. The bartender, Rod, was also personally and attentive. We had a great conversation about different bourbons and scotches etc.... I think I might have tought him a thing or 2...lol. I was surprised at the liquor selection being that this was a smaller club. They had Cutty Sark scotch and Monkey Shoulder bourbon to name a few gems.. The DJ was SMACKIN the southern soul. He played the music that I love and kept the crowd on the floor. I'm used to being the youngest one in the place and that's exactly what this was. I enjoyed dancing with the older queens to that good old southern soul. This will be my new regular spot for sure. I loved the place! It reminded me so much of home. Had a great time. Price range was cool. All I had were Fries so I can't really give a fair review on the food (fries were good tho) Magnolia reminds me of my favorite hole in the wall (that's a compliment) older crowd, mixture of southern Soul, blues and RNB. Friendly patrons and staff. Miss Viv, (the owner) greets her guest and entertained us with humorous stories of the past! She is a delight to meet and we'll definitely be coming back!

*Funny side note: when we arrived we were confused by the sound of gospel music coming from inside. It felt a little funny sipping on scotch while folks were praising the lord (a church group rented out the space for the day and were rapping up their season when we came in😂) they didn't mind us drinking and we didn't mind them getting their praise on✊🏾❤️...

Yesterday was me and my boyfriend's first time visiting Magnolia Lounge, let me say this, we were shocked but in a good way! The bartender, Bussey, was very laid back and informed us on the options from food, drinks, all the way to booking a party and hosting football season. The drinks were a great price considering how strong they are! 😂 The lemon pepper wings and French fries hit the spot and I even met a few females who taught me a new dance slide. The entire set up is beautiful and the bathrooms were clean, which left a huge mark with me. We are already planning on returning next weekend. You can never judge a book by it's cover, because you wouldn't think much of it just by looking at it from the street. This is definitely the place for relaxation and classy grown folks...
