The pizza was very good. This rating is for the bartender service. The bartender was awful. I don't think it was on purpose - she just had no business being in this role. She didn't know what a scotch and soda was. Seriously ! She said what's that? After i explained she then asked if I wanted it with Sprite. I kid you not. I explained it was soda water not soda. Then she asked what kind of Scotch. I said Dewars. She said she didn't know what that was. Now Im very concerned. I ask what she had . She says Johhny Walker black and JW blue. I tell her black, not the blue because thats very expensive. She agrees and leaves. She comes back with my drink in a highball glass. The drink was actually pretty good as she put a good dose.of scotch. But this was purely accidental. She was also our server and not once did she ask of we needed anything else - water, another drink, more food- nothing. I had to go to the bar to get another drink . Then the bill. $99. An 8 inch Pizza and two scotch and sodas. I said this is not right. First she charged me $40 for Blue Johnny Walkers each. I asked for black " oh yeah!" she said . Im glad you looked! "They shouldn't put the two charges so close together on the tablet." Turns out it was 9 per drink. I realize this is primarily a beer place but come on! If you're going to have a bar /restaurant you've got to have a capable bar tender. The owner needs to retrain this young lady or...
Read moreThe place has all the right ingredients for a great spot—delicious food, a solid menu with pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, and apps, plus locally brewed beer with real potential. Unfortunately, the service completely ruins the experience.
From the moment we visited, it was clear that visitors are treated differently than local “regulars.” On our first visit, our server Hannah made us feel like asking questions about the menu was wasting her time. When other customers walked in, she shifted her attention to them, leaving us with poor service and even an incorrect order. We gave the place another chance recently, but the same thing happened—dismissive service and an owner who seemed more interested in defending poorly trained staff than addressing concerns. His response was unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome, as though we were the problem for speaking up.
As a business owner myself, I see great potential here—the food is fantastic, the beer is unique, and the atmosphere could be a draw for both locals and visitors. But unless ShinyTop Brewing reevaluates how they treat their customers, especially those from out of town, the experience will continue to fall short.
Great food. Great concept. Horrible service. Truly...

ShinyTop is off to a good start. Great location, nice and clean with lots of local art. The owners are very engaged in the community. This is exactly the type of local business that you want to support.
Ambiance is pretty spot on. Still working on lighting a bit, but a nice casual feel. Lots of games to share, and local food is delivered or bring your own.
The darker beers and IPA are getting pretty dialed in, but the other recipes are still in the works. Stop here to get in on the ground floor of something great, but be prepared to experience a wrinkle or two in the brew as...
