Anyone, from any walk of life, will feel right at home walking into Reggae Roots -- from the welcoming staff to the incredibly juicy, flavorful food, I can definitely say I will be back here for more, and I look forward to taking my friends here as well!!
My family and I decided to make the trip to this restaurant, and I was especially looking forward to trying their food today as my father has brought home beef patties from here in the past (which were amazing by the way!)
The young lady who served us today was extremely kind and patient, letting us know what was available that day from the concise and wonderfully put-together menu -- I myself ordered the Pineapple BBQ Chicken, and my folks ordered Jerk Chicken, all of which were in the small size offering, along with two bottles of Ting.
Now for the food: the chicken was so tender and juicy, falling off the bone and bursting with flavor. The rice and peas were incredible too; perfectly cooked with an undertone of spices, and the plantain and steamed cabbage and carrots were delicious too! My parents absolutely loved the Jerk chicken, and I even had a piece too and 100% agree with them.
Most other places seem to overcook their jerk chicken, but not Reggae Roots! The food was very fresh, delicious, and you can truly see the passion for cooking too in all three meals we ordered today.
Attached is an image of the Pineapple BBQ Chicken I had today. I had already taken a few bites -- it just smelled too good not to do so right away!
Will definitely be back here. :-) Best of luck to...
Read moreReggae Roots is one of my favorite places for Caribbean cuisine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The restaurant features authentic Jamaican and Caribbean dishes prepared with care by the Jamaican chef and owner.
The jerk chicken at Reggae Roots is some of the best I've had outside of Jamaica itself. The seasoning is spot on, with just the right amount of heat from Scotch bonnet peppers and a deep smoky flavor from pimento wood. The chicken is always cooked to perfection, with crispy skin and tender, juicy meat. I highly recommend ordering a half or full chicken and sharing with friends. The oxtail stew and curry goat are also excellent, full of flavor and falling off the bone tender.
In addition to classic Jamaican favorites, Reggae Roots also serves a full menu of rice and beans, stewed chicken, salads, and sides. I particularly enjoy their fried plantains, which are cooked to perfect crispiness. The atmosphere at Reggae Roots is very welcoming and laid back. The staff are always friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant is meticulously clean and well maintained. Tables are spaced far enough apart to ensure privacy but close enough that the lively reggae music playing overhead fills the whole dining room.
In summary, Reggae Roots offers some of the most authentic and delicious Caribbean cuisine you'll find in South Florida. The food, atmosphere and service all come together to make it a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend checking it out next time you're in Ft. Lauderdale craving some Jamaican jerk chicken, curry goat or...
Read moreI came out of town to try this restaurant that had the most views and star ratings, which end up being false advertisement. Very limited menu with a long wait time for take out. There was only 4 meats, and the fried chicken only had dark meat and not both. Not even Ox tail was on the menu. This was the first time Iâve been to a Jamaican restaurant and they didnât have Ox tail at all! Nothing was ready and it was already after 3:30pm in the afternoon. I received my order, and looks nothing like what was presented on their website. I got one little piece of plantain when on the website you have a big long plantain. Who shares out one little plantain? At least 2 to 3 is very reasonable if theyâre going to be small. The cabbage was very hard. My fried chicken was dark meat, very salty, burnt, and still had feathers on them. The rice and peas was colorless. My curry chicken had no flavor and the white rice was very soft & wet. Even the hot sauce wasnât even a Jamaican hot sauce. It was more like duck sauce with flakes. I was very disappointed at both meals and know this isnât our Jamaican...
